This will probably get me in a whole lot of trouble with my friends but....

I think that we need to knock it off......

I'm pretty sure that the culprit who ultimately reported the thread is not Sona it was Skaravan (who seems to be getting a free pass here).

While I vehemently disagree with the thread being locked and the reasoning behind it I'm going to throw out a couple of comments.

    1. I respect Sona's (and everyone else's) right to thier opinions and I further respect that she put hers out in plain view. While I may not agree with it (which I don't) I do commend her for having the brass to put it out there in plain sight as opposed to doing it backchannel.

    2. I find it ironic that someone like Silverti is persecuting someone else on the forum. Given the recent history, that's pretty hipocritical (sp).

    3. If you want to want argue with Sona, or anyone else.....I don't have a problem with it. Hell, I do it myself as I'm no saint. What I do find personally troubling is to start threads to encourage ganging up on someone. One on one, those are good odds and I say fire away. 100 to 1 isn't.

Again, I'm not taking ANYONE's side here. Personally, I think locking it was a crock of shiite but that's not my decision.

I started to read this thread --

    And stopped...

Some people just don't get IT -

What is IT you ask? Ive been on this forum for almost 6 years now...

And this is a disasterous spiral we are treading ---

And seriously, I may get banned for this... but I, and probally 99.89% of the active members on this forum don't really care what offends you. And if it does, we would hope you would have the self control to just stay the hell out of the threads...

This forum has an age group of folks over 22-25, all the way up to like 55...

I'm one of the youngest on the forum, and a GUY at that -- and I think I visited the TBT like... 3-4 times, MAX...

The fact that you stayed in that thread long enough to honestly bother you in anyway I find amusing.

Its just an internet forum, its just a thread, one small click and you have abandoned its prescence...

If things here really bother you so much, just freaking leave already...

This place has become SO lame with all the moderation and bitching...

Seriously, can we bring this stupidity to a stop?

I have ALWAYS maintained that this is POLK'S forum to do with as they please. A dictatorship to some degree and I have no problem with that concept, even in this particular situation.

I am disheartened by the recent events where the whining and "tattling" by some thin skinned individuals has created an environment that has brought the activites of this fourm to the attention of those "in power" at Polk. Maybe the fact they are now owned by a publicly traded company has incresed the "sensitivity" to what takes place here. We used to never hear much from the moderators but now this is a regular event.

This forum is a marketing tool for Polk and they can ban everyone, shut it down or limit discussion to "the effects of My Little Pony on the home theater system" if they choose to do so. If it gets shut down it will be too bad...but it's a great big internet world out there and lots of places to post and life will go on.

If you would like to see it continue as a cool place to post and hang out (as I do) I would recommend that many of you use the ignore feature to block those individuals you feel are idiots, troublemakers or just don't like their screen name. I have certainly increased the number of individuals that IMO fall in to a couple of the above categories. Please feel free to put me on your list...I REALLY DON'T CARE.

It's now near 4:00 AM EST and I need to get a couple of hours of sleep before work...So I will quit rambling and go hit the sack.

    I'm out....

Oh...one final thought. My above comments should not be construed to mean that I think Polk was right to shut down the TBT (I gave my opinion of that decision in another thread)...just that it is their RIGHT to do so.

    Simple Math:

100 Pages of scantily clad women.
    Estimated 10 women per page.
Equals est. 1000 women who are being viewed as sex objects.

Estimated 211,000 views of the TBT Thread.
Perhaps as many as 211 Million scantily clad photos were viewed by guys.

If .01% of the photos affect men by this thread, that is 21,000 affected thoughts of lust that are "not being encouraged".

If .01% of the 21,000 thoughts of lust are acted upon with violence to women, that would equate to TWO violent acts against a women.

Certainly, you good people can see that 0.01% of the men may be affected by these photos. And, it is possible that of those 0.01% of affected men, an additional 0.01% may act out upon those thoughts with violent consequences.

It is exactly for these reasons (simple math) that I complained about this thread.

This might sound weird to some of you guys, but I will take 100 rskarvan's and 100 Sona's, together, over one Silverti.

At least they are being honest and you know what to expect, while Silverti pretends to be a victim, and all he wants is look for trouble. Full of **** IMO.

    Simple math...

A toddler dies from the acid in a watch battery he or she shallowed accidentally. Government in is wisdom bans all watch batteries, we as citizens need wind up watches. Millions of kids now can't tell the time as they are used to the digital kind of watch. World comes to a stop in effect, because of 1 dead kid.

    JD,

Top shelf:D. Qualifies for Post of the Year honors. Excellent.

Life is full of Loser's and losses, it is a shame, but it is just the way it is. Most all spend a bit of time in the loser bucket, most of us learn how not to, some don't, or actually enjoy being there for a variety of reasons.

As suggested the effect of all that has been recently done will hopefully be a total shunting by the community of the obvious misfits so we can move forward in a positive way.

Yes, it is Polk's forum and we support the company and the Forum. Yet, at the same time it is our Club. I'd like to think there are still more than enough left who care and I have faith as group we are much smarter than any one individual.

I will (just this once) pass on the pie.

    Abstract:
The incidence of rape in the United States has declined 85% in the past 25 years while access to pornography has become freely available to teenagers and adults. The Nixon and Reagan Commissions tried to show that exposure to pornographic materials produced social violence. The reverse may be true: that pornography has reduced social violence.

Some people just love rules and guidance---most don't. Most of us prefer the freedom to make our own decision.

If you don't like the damn thread---stop looking at it. I don't need you to watch out for my best interest, in fact I find that offensive; some sheeple may not.

It has been my experience, that most people who like rules and formal structure in fact usually need this environment for themselves, because they lack the moral fiber that those who don't need rules possess.
