Did anyone snag up those ls50's in Dayton? If not, I'll likely pick them up either for my own diabolical scheme or to pass along to someone on here.

Yay! I was able to negotiate for more audio toys when my fiancee decided she needed to buy a ps3, but I don't want to break the bank on electronics purchases this week.

If I didn't just buy 2 pairs of speakers already I would be all over these...it was hard enough to convince my fiance that I need an amp now...she would kill me:( You could be the lucky new owner:D

Anyone interested in some cheap power conditioning here's a link to the PDF manual and seller on fleabay.
Don't have one in hand yet but ordered a unit and will check it out.
Niles generally makes some good quality stuff and I expect the same from this unit.

The unit has the UL 1449 second edition listing that I understand is very important.

I expect build quality to be at least as good as Monster. My experience with other Niles stuff is that it is on a more professional level than most monster products. The unit has some serious power filtering specs also. Comes with a built in 12v trigger.

Should have mine next week if you want to wait. I'll post a first impression.

Stu, any idea as to how much current limiting they use?

    Hi Joe.

Are we talking total current through the unit? It has a 15A circuit breaker built into the rear of the unit. Some other specs are over voltage and under voltage protection. Niles claims the unit also beats the UL spec (<300v) for capturing spikes, one of only a few on the market to have the ability.

No Stu, I referring to the outlets of the power conditioners. For instance, my Monster HTS 5100 MKII (now dead) unit had specific outlets for specific pieces of gear i.e., digital outlets for CDPs, outlets for preamps, outlets for power amps etc. The power amp outlets were no good because they had current limiting circuitry which would limit the current drawn by the power amp. This would interfere with the dynamic demand for current on let's say heavy bass draws or just increases needed to complete dynamic range necessities changes.

I believe my amp has filter circuits to clean up the power thus I plug it directly into the wall to avoid the current limiting circuitry in the power conditioners.

Joe, I don't see a spec in the manual for an individual outlet rating.
Some manufacturers units provide surge protection by using "sacrificial" technology, this unit does not. This makes me think there may not be a restriction inline with the 15A breaker rating. Am looking into this further. The fleabay guy also has a 6 outlet unit available with the same technology for really cheap and it may be better suited to use for amp line filtering/circuit protection.
