a very good way to get into a tubed pre--ptp wiring,, you won't/don't see these as often now that Mr Wright has passed-- the good news is that a good tech can follow the circuit design pretty easy should you need repair or prefer tweaks--jerryj12 has one that has been modded,,and it's that good.I'm still waiting on mine.

    Technics SL-1210 M5G - $500 obo

    is this a good price??

    http://newjersey.craigslist.org/ele/1575669015.html

Not really. (Unless you already bought it...then it's a great deal!) The M5G is basically the same TT as the "standard" 1200, with an LED light and cosmetically better slide lights. Looks cool, but sound is pretty much the same. There was a gold plated hardware version a couple years ago, which was again, cool looking, but sonically the same as a standard 1200.

A fair price for an average (i.e. DJ-used) 1200 in good condition is around $250. You won't find the cover with it, but one can be had for around $40 on eBay.

An "audiophile"-used version is worth a bit more, since it probably has been used by someone like you or me and not banged around.

The nice thing about these TT's is that ANY part can be bought for it, and there is a big aftermarket for DIY mods for the 1200's. It's been produced continuously since 1972. Check out www.kabusa.com to get an idea of what can be done to them.

I've owned several of these over the years, and modded some of them. They sound great out of the box, however, and compete with uber-cost TT's on a performance level. I finally came across a Sony PSX-75 sealed in the original box a couple years ago, and jumped on it. This was. IMO the pinnacle of TT technology, and compares sonically to the 1200s. And it's fully automatic with the biotracer arm. Paired with a Technics U205CMK3 (which is a boron-tube cantilevered cartridge) and I'm done upgrading for life.

Bet the seller is happy he put them on Ebay rather than selling them on CL for the $200 he was asking, huh? :p

The two bills would of been a steal. Was hoping you wound up with them. I was going to quiz you on how they performed if ya had em'. Curious whether they are a decent jump over the dual design. Maybe next time.

I can also keep my ears open for anything that may pop up around this neck of the woods for you if you like. There seems to be a fair amount of B+K stuff here.

Not sure if its an audio deal or not but interesting and unique:
    DC Craigslist ad: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/ele/1583197762.html
Polk Audio RTI8 Speakers One of a Kind!!!! - $450
Own some Polk Audio History!!!!! I have for sale one of a kind Polk audio RTi8's in SILVER. These speakers were the exact pair that Polk rubbed in all the other companies faces at all the major electronics shows around the world. From what I know there were only 2 pairs of these made and you can own one of them. These are not some pre production junk; they are actually made better than any of the released RTi8's that are/were sold to the public. They have beefier drivers and better cabinets. THEY ARE AN AUDIOPHILES DREAM!!! These speakers were made and acquired directly from POLK AUDIO located here in Baltimore. If you don't know Polk audio speakers are not built here in Baltimore, they are only designed there.....THESE WERE MADE IN HOUSE UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION of all the Polk engineers (the guys that have the final say in any of Polks products including Matt Polk himself. What makes these speakers so special besides how and what they are made of is the color. Polk never released the RTi8's or any other speaker in their line in silver. Let alone these speakers are silver they also have the matching one off silver speaker covers. You can catch a glimpse of these from photos taken at CES and CEDIA with respect to the time they were released. I am not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eye's these are the real deal ONE OFF's directly from Polk Audio's headquarters.

Now for the bad.........the only blemish is on one speaker. As you can see from the photo below one of the ports have been cracked when in shipment from one of the shows.....again they are the real deal one off's!!!!

If you want to own some audio history here is your chance!!! $450 obo

Actually if two pairs were made then they are not really one-of-a-kind then are they
Other than the "THEY ARE AN AUDIOPHILES DREAM!!!" comment, can anybody validate the claims?
    **no affil.
