I think Im going to skip the T/S parameters and trust Polk engineers.

According to the T/S way, the flattest response curve (Qtc .707) will be with a .925 ft3 sealed box. However, Polk recommends a .66 box for best sound.

Ive been doing a lot of reading tonight and apparantly while a Qtc of .707 is the flattest, that doesnt necessarily mean it will work the best in a car. And since T/S calculators and specs cant tell you how a speaker will sound....and the fact that I dont want to have to build a second box, I think I will trust Polk's recommendation and just go with a .66 box (actually .67 from the measurements I just took).

Did you pay extra for the 60k warranty? Aside from a small thing here or there, you're paying way more for that than you ever will........the powertrain is a 100k and the paint is a 60k as well...........

They put it down on the paperwork like I paid for it but they took $800 off the price of the car.

Im not well versed on the law but I think the thing was that since we'd already signed all the papers and everything on the original deal and when the financing didnt go thru, I think they knew they were screwed. I may have been able to force them to stick to the original deal so they had to sweeten the pot for me to take the new deal.

Why else would they give me $3000 more on my trade in, come off $1000 on the price of the car PLUS and additional $800 so they could throw in the warranty.

For my 2007, the powertrain was only 5/60,000. Now with the extended, its bumper to bumper for 5/60,000.

I called up the shop that Im always bragging on, The Radio Clinic, and asked them how much they would charge me to sell me the 6 pieces pre-cut (I live in an apt and dont have a table saw). They told me $130!!!!!

$130 to cut 6 pieces of wood! I already have the dimensions so all they would have to do is measure and cut! Eff them! They just lost my business.

So I went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of 3/4 MDF and on a whim asked if they would cut it up for me. They did. FOR FREE!

Home depot is suppose to give you only 2 free cuts with purchase of MFD (last time I bought some anyway). But they gave me the 3 or 4 I asked for and never charged for it either. They probably would feel pretty stupid asking for money!

That is pretty expensive. We did that once for a guy and we charged him $75. $22 for the sheet(and we kept the leftovers) and the rest for the cuts including the cut out for the sub. I think thats pretty reasonable.

Thats awesome the Home Depot did that for free. When I build my box I'm going to see if theyll cut it for me. Im sure they can do it a lot faster than I can with that huge **** saw they have there.

He told me they would charge me over 2 cuts but he cut all 6 pieces and walked away. So I went up to the check out and she scanned the one piece that had the bar code on there and that was it!

$75 is still a rip off!! Now if you had to figure out the measurements and all that then thats one thing, but if I come in and tell you I need 6 pieces of Y x Z size, it shouldnt take you 5 minutes to cut them out. Charge me $20 for the wood and maybe $20 for your time at most! Even with $20, thats $400 an hour!

I was also going to buy $200 worth of Dynamat from them. Guess Ill be heading down to Tweeter with my 2 bills now.

I had a HD cut me some wood once and it was the roughest cut I'd ever seen done. I don't know how they did it, but they also had it angled and completely jacked up the wood......

I took it to a shop to cut my MDF for my 2 sub boxes and they charged $85 and they had to do a slight adjustment to the angle, but was well worth it IMO.

If I get a decent table saw when I'm in a house I'm all for doing it myself, but having the wood shop do it with a blade that completely squashes the **** basic that HD uses was worth it alone to me........

Ya.......if I had it to do over again I wouldn't do angled box again......

My problem is the slope from behind the back seat to the beginning of the spare well that caused a fitting issue with a straight box......but when i get my new car I think the trunk is flatter so shouldn't be a problem......

Do y'all ever put handles on the boxes? Strap handles? I was thinking about getting some of those flat sitting strap handles in the instances where I needed to remove one or both of them......

The timing belt replacement is usually around 90k. Price to replace is around $600... I did mine at 112k. I didn't have any issues, but I would never push it.

Still, I don't see $1800 for timing belts over the life of the vehicle (assuming 300k) is really all that bad. Plus, you're also getting a water pump in that deal :)
    Ludicrous gibs!

man, the last box i built, I had home depot do all the cutting for me. lol. The guy didn't care at all. I had only asked for two cuts so i can fit the 48" x 48" in my car. he insisted to do all the cutting so i wasnt gonna argue. :D

Next time ask home depot how much it costs to deliver a sheet of MDF.

Also, it takes a little more than 5 minutes. It takes 2 ppl to handle a sheet of mdf for the first couple cuts unless you have a $1500 table saw with a really nice fence(we dont have one). At least 15 minutes of 2 ppl, then another 15-20 minutes for the remainder.

We charge ~$55/hour. Roughly $40 for the hourly rate, $22 for the wood, remaining $13 for delivery.

Oh, I thought you had wood in the shop. If not, then I see nothing wrong with charging for delivery.

But, I bought a 2x4' sheet of MDF for $6. Cut 6 pieces out of it and it took the old man doing it less than 10 minutes and that was counting figuring out measurements.

I also figured a car audio shop would have a table saw!

Im just blowing smoke out my **** anyway. Went back to Radio Clinic today and bought $200 worth of Dynamat. So much for my threats. :D

We have a table saw, but due to the location of our shop, our install bays arent big enough to have a dedicated wood work station so our table saw is one of the smaller portable ones that you cant take on a full sheet of 4'x8' heavy **** MDF by yourself.

Also, if your box was made out of a 2'x4', thats a lot different than the one we did for that guy which held 3 12's...lol. If you brought the wood, it wouldve been like 10 minutes or so for something of that size. I guess we were just comparing 2 different things

How much sq feet of dynamat did $200 get you?

    Man I love this car!!!

Just got back from a weekend trip up to Ohio which is at least 7 hours one way. This thing is the msot comfortable car Ive ever owned! After 7 hours Im not tired or sore at all.

I always thought trucks would be more comfortable because of the extra room but I guess its the better seating position of the car because this was the easiest trip Ive made to Ohio.

Got great mileage too! 75 mph the whole way and got 33 mpg!

I may never own a truck again.
