If anyone is interested in picking up a R7 quad with a superior upgraded stiff flex graphite shaft for around $100, let me know. I have two drivers and I need to get rid of one.

Wow, you must have some serious club head speed to be hitting an 8.5er.:)

Swing speed is 110. A good drive goes 320. I've been playing since 5th grade.

    Hi everyone!
just bumping this. I know some of us are in the middle of winter but most golf courses don't mind if you go out and hack at a few despite the snow.

okay i don't know about the above statement but i'd really like to keep this going.

how does everyone clean their clubs and what kind of shoes do you all wear golfing?

Finally got some good weather in Dallas after a very cool start to February. Hit up the linx with some friends yesterday. Great weather, and for not hardly hitting a ball since November (even my new Cleveland 8.5 460cc composite driver with Proforce V2 shaft and Scotty putter), I played pretty well.

Shot a 90, which is good for me, and only lost three balls, which is easily a record. Pumped about playing this year now as it seems likely I can be a consistent high 80's guy by summer.

Regarding the "what golf shoes do you wear?" question, I just got some sweet silver and blue Nike Air Max golf shoes on sale for $50 at Sports Authority. If you like the look, they are super comfortable.

My next putter will probably be a 2 ball. I've played with one and they are very nice. When it came time to buy one, I went for an Odyssey GFX black insert and I wish I had gone with the white hot. I love the feel the white hots have. Like butter.

yeah i tried that Scotty Cameron with the glowing green dots... but the ball just came off so fast and I felt like I had little to no control. The White Hot putters all seem to be silky smooth.

That's why I live in Texas. I've played twice in the last week (currently in between jobs), hit range balls, and I'm playing on Thursday. Sweeeeeet.

Where do you live in Texas, Wallstreet? I'm in North Dallas. . . maybe you can give me some lessons so I can hit the monster drive as well :)

I'm happy to come play at your country club, if you are a member somewhere close (yes, I'm a golf mooooooch).

I wear the DryJoys, very comfy and definitely live up to their name. How do y'all hit those 8.5* drivers? Had a Launcher 400 for awhile and wasn't consistent. Now I'm hitting a TaylorMade 540XD 9.5* with a Harman Tour Design graphite stiff shaft, Easier to control w/higher launch angle. Ball jumps off that club.

I've been using DryJoys as well. They are great, but they need to be replaced. Never had a moment of wet feet while I wore the DryJoys.

I'm up in Mckinney. And no, I'm not a CC man. I'm like you and mooch off my neighbors. To hit long drives, it's all about club head speed. But before you go swinging hard like a mad man, check out how smooth the pros swing their drivers. It doesn't even look like they're trying and the ball goes 300.

If I had to do it over, I would go 9.5. It definitely gives a higher trajectory and longer carry. I can't tell you how many times a line drive catches the trap at 260.

From my experience, hitting an 8.5 requires longer tees and the ball further up in your stance for most people. I only do that if I'm trying to fly a drive 275+

Otherwise, I'll hit my driver from the same location as the rest of the clubs. (this is a change that led to a lot more consistancy)

I'll typically hit drives in the 290-320 range with the latter configuration and 50-340+ in the former. Swing speed around 115 in the latter, 123 in the former (according to golf smiths machines anyway)

A lot more golfers here than I ever knew...

I've been playing since I was 14 (with a gift set of Sears and Roebucks)... so it's 40 years now. Minus a couple due to injury (tore the anterior labrum in my left shoulder... playing golf, of all things. :( )

    Now swinging almost all Calloway...
Driver: GBB II (10 deg; firm graphite)
    "Woods" : 3 & 5 BB Warbirds (firm graphite)
Irons: 3 - SW: Original BB's (that wide flange just fit my eye; steel stiff)
Utility Wedge: 57 deg Spalding Trevino (angled grooves; great for firm sand)
Putter: Odessey 772 (offset teardrop mallet)
Ball: Nike Precision Distance (very good and very inexpensive)

I regrip my own as well... Victory Tour Wraps.

Took several lessons and years to unlearn all the bad things I adopted from the get-go. Lowest stroke index I ever managed to get to was a 10.3, but that was in tournament play in the Houston Amateur Golf Association (HAGA) of which I am a past president, among other positions.

    shack,
Any chance of getting my pics photoshopped for that thread?

I gave them to my daughter. Let me see if she's finished them yet. She leaves for Chicago on Wed. for a few days. If I can't get them before she leaves I'll make her get them done as soon as she gets back.

Hey wallstreet, have you ever played the Sawtooth course out at Chase Oaks off 75? I live in Allen and hit range balls out there a lot, but have never played their 9 hole course(well, 18 with the different tee boxes).

Adidas shoes (haven't tried these out either because I just found a pair in my size, return from Christmas)
    Adams wedges
No name putter with a custom black and white horizontal paint job, looks like crap but it works for me.

I'm not all that great, but I have lots of fun.

I've done a lot of online shopping. If your looking to get setup for cheap and don't mind grey market, pinemeadowgolf.com is great. For legit brand names, golfsmith.com always comes to mind. There are tons of sites in between.
