Man, it is odd that this type of thread hasn't popped up before. My dad got me interested in golf back when he was a fanatic but the weather around here has promoted it lately.

I used to not really like it but now that I haven't even swung a club in months, I'm missing it badly. I use older clubs that are usually passed down. In my bag right now I have Calloway Hawkeye (I think) Irons and a Taylor Made driver. My dad always has the nicest and newest stuff (even though he took my bag  )

Golf sucks. I rarely get the ball where I want it -- on the fairway. And getting it on the green is simply out of the question.

Looks a helluva lot easier than it is.

Love it!!!! I play two times a week when the weather is prime and have been doing so for the last ten years. The sticks I've been swinging for the last three years are Callaway, Big Bertha. As far as golf ball karma, I only buy the sleeves when I go golfing so I don't have many laying around. In total, I've played 54 different courses in the last ten years.

I live about a mile from the National. Usually go to the practice. Tournament tickets sometimes turn up though.

    Speaking of golf...

I'm so excited! I won a contest through a national shipping company last Sept. First prize is a trip for one to West Palm Beach FL. 3 nights at the LPGA learning school! I get two, three hour lessons and two rounds of golf. All meals and a villa to boot!

I try to golf as much as I can. I don't get to much. Its expensive over here and the weather only cooperates for a few months of the year. Its fun, but I don't get to as much as I want.

I switch between a Taylormade 580 XT driver and an R7. I play some Wilson Deep Red irons (those will be replaced before too much longer). I have a Callaway forged wedge and an Odyssey putter.

edit: I also use a V-Steel TaylorMade 3 wood. I got it with the stiff flex graphite shaft. Its an awesome club.

I play about 3 times a week (more during good weather). TaylorMade Drivers and Woods, Top Flite Irons, Cleveland wedges and Ping Putter. Been playing for 40+ years. My handicap card says I'm a 7. I sure wish I was playing that well right now.

I'm the same, here. Do everything right-handed....except swing a golf club and baseball bat.

I play probably about 4 times a year. I have hand-me-down clubs, but they're not as bad as you might think. One of Dad's friends used to make nice knock-offs for a hobby, so my clubs (I think I have two sets) are fairly nice knock-offs, and are custom made to Dad's height...which isn't too far off. I'm probably only about 3 - 4" taller than him.

Dad tries to get me to play more often because I obviously have potential; but from only playing 3 - 7 times a year my score sure doesn't reflect that (about 120 or so, usually. Less on an easier course....ok, that was obvious...) When I get in a groove I can consistently drive about 270 - 280. Practicing with my new Ping driver at a driving range I got in a groove and hit a few over 320 yards, and I can hit my seven iron ~175.

However, none of my game is consistent seeing how seldom I play.

Ok. This waaaay too long post is now officially over. :)

Well, you should have more power leading with your right arm then.

My putters vary (dad and I share) between an Odyssey 2 ball, Ping Craz-e or a Pelz 3 ball (those things are awesome-I need to find a picture) of which my dad has a collection of.

EDIT: Here is the 3-ball (one of the surest putters I've ever used)

I play once or twice a week. Easy to play 10 months of the year down in Texas. Supposed to play today, but my hook-up (free gold if the only way to go) couldn't get me on.

Play Cleveland clubs from top to bottom. 460 Composite Driver, Launcher fairway woods, TA7 irons, and CGI wedges. Also got a Scotty Cameron putter recently, the only non CG in the bag.

But, with all that nice equipment, I'm still learning the game and shoot in the 90s. Love playing, though. Last year was my first serious attempt to get good, hope to be in the 80's this year.

Which leads to another question. Do you all walk or get a cart? I have one friend that insists we get a cart, but otherwise I always walk. Its obviously tiring, but I much prefer and enjoy walking a course.

I usually walk unless it is extremely hot or the course is very hilly.Heat and climbing tire me out too much and then my game goes for a ****.
No on the dual strapper but it looks like a good Idea.

I try to play as much as possible but not nearly enough any more.

My handicap is 11 but I KNOW I haven't played to that in a LONG time.

I use a Callaway Hawkeye (original) Driver. My 3/5 woods are Wilson Staff persimmon. I also use a Wilson Staff Persimmon driver. My irons are Callaway x-12, Ping Eye2 SW, Titleist Vokey LW, Wilson 8802 blade putter.

I don't enjoy golf nearly as much in a cart, however, the number or courses that will actually let you walk is dwindling.

Too damn hot in Texas to walk most days. Not enough trees to hide from the heat either. Cart or bust down here.

I know a chiropractor that says that his practice is full of golfers that carry they're bags. I am a pull cart guy. I hate power carts. As far as clubs go I do custom fitting and repairs so I make my own. Mostly Golfsmith.

    Well it's my turn.
I just began golfing again and got a good deal on 04 callaway big bertha irons. i have a ping anser putter, callaway 3 wood, and a cobra 7 wood. no driver yet as i am working on the 3 wood. otherwise i hit the range 3-4 times a week. i am going to walk quite a bit on courses that are walker friendly. a lot of the courses around here tend to be a long walk between holes though.

There is nothing better than selecting your own shafts and grips to put throughout your clubs to get a more consistent feel. Some of my first clubs were the little kid Golfsmiths that my dad made (I was a wee tyke). I redid the grips on my Irons awhile back - talk about wearing out your thumbs, mine went numb after awhile from rolling back and peeling off the grips. It's also a plus being able to perfectly size the shaft of the club.

    Golf ?

    Heck yeah !!

I'll have you know, it's not unusual to see me shooting a round of 68 to 70 !

.....we are talking 9 holes, right ? :o

We buy a lot of our equipment ( my 2 sons and I ) at Golf Galaxy, 2Golf (GREAT buys on used gear there), Golf Discount, and Sports Authority.

I'm pathetic beyond belief, but my sons (who only starting playing 2 summers ago) are at the stage where fitted clubs will make a difference.

My youngest son managed to hit a turkey on the 3d hole of Berry Hill last year. He shanked a ball about 200 yards along the wood line, and richoted a shot off an oak that then bopped a turkey.

My oldest son's game record is an emu. He shanked a shot over the fence on Mo Bottoms, into a neighboring farmer's field. This farmer has a herd (?) of emu's. It was a nasty, wicked slice that took off like it was on nitrous oxide; went through the trees, and we heard a THUD, then a sound like a sheep bawling.

Not unlike audio, if you can stay away from the leading, bleeding edge of equipment, you can golf relatively cheaply.

For those who have never golfed, I'd recommend not picking up the game.
Highly addictive; one game is too much, and a million games isn't enough.

As a kid my brothers and I had a golf pass at the local muni, we spent 4 days a week playing at 50 cents a round. Unfortunately, in the last 15 years I only seem to get out about once a month during the summers, just getting too pricey for where I live on my salary. Nobody offers a pass for a fair price.

I have a set of Tommy Armour 845 Silver Scotts that I picked up a couple of years ago to replace my classic Hogan Apexes from 1972, and Big Bertha Driver.

Golf and Audio are too hobbies that seem to have quite a bit in common. You really don't understand how sick of an addiction it is until you get into it pretty heavy. You'll find yourself dropping all of your disposable income on new gear, even though you'd be better off just getting the most out of your current gear.

Basically, both are addictive and very expensive.
