no sweat, I just replied back I wanted to pick your brain a few days ago about the inductor in the tweeter circuit but i already placed my order. my fingers are crossed.
-
crossovers are in, sound good thus far, however one tweeter is starting to fail. sadly the infamous intro to Yes - Owner of a lonley heart sounded compressed in one channel. swapped tweeters and located the culprit. rdo198's should be here on tuesday. oddly enough, i noticed the printing on the oem crossover circuit boards was incorrect. I think it was C2 and C3 that were swapped. the schematic is correct tho.

new crossovers, new tweets, and new grill cloth. project is done, another fine polk speaker restored and off to craigslist along with my SRT's. I can't keep buying speakers, I guess we could have worse addictions

Nice work on the restoration!

why am i reported? I must say this is the most unwelcome audio forum around. I've got 3000-8000 posts on other forums, so i'm no stranger to the web. I feel like i'm spinning my wheels here trying to increase my post count to 100 so that I can post my SRT's and other polk gear for-sale. Where else to sell polk gear but to offer it to other polkies first but I guess in the end no one really cares. -

And yet after posting in different threads YOU KEEP alluding to all your gear you have for sale. Several members told you to stop but yet you keep tossing it in another thread...Good Grief man I'm sure you're not that dense. Trust me we watch out for the kind of stuff you're doing.
Take a look at j1mmy would you like that same banner......your call
If you have a good deal on you stuff weather it be eBay or Craigslist we all scour those and we will post it here for those who are looking and or interested.
Just contribute its that simple. -
Never have I seen such disrespect to a fellow forum member. And needing 100 posts to list something for sale? just plain hideous... Again, I was just trying to CONTRIBUTE to the forum by offering my rare polk audio gear to "fellow polkies" first. For me, Audio is a hobby, not a lifestyle. It's in our blood or else we wouldn't be here - from the beginner home theater guy to the serious audiophile enthusiasts. either way, it's supposed to be a form of entertainment i.e. FUN, but this forum and it's divergent motions eliminate any possibility of such. (you know what they say about the few bad apples.) So picking on the new guy is just not happening on my watch. I'll take my audio quests elsewhere and will make my final contribution by not logging into this forum any longer. Enjoy.

Buh bye now... -
Good morning, I'm writing from Italy. I've a pair of RTA 15 TL since 1990, I've upgrated the old tweeter SL 3000 with the new RD 0198-1. Now I'm interested to upgrading
the crossover how can I find the schematic of Decato xover?
Than You -

Dear all I've a question who may know. I find a Munford Supreme but non with the exactly capacity. Can I use 1 X 10 UF caps + 1X1.8 uF for the 12Uf Cap and 1X10 uF + 3.3 uF for the 13.5 uF in this crossover? Also can I leave in place and use the original 1.75 mH? I will change only the 022mH with a new one. Thank You very Much

It's always best practice to use the exact value Capacitor when possible. If you must combine 2 or more Capacitors to make up the required value, the Capacitors should be close in value. For the 12uf, a 5.6uf and a 6.2uf or four 3ufs will get you there. For the 13.5uf, two 6.8uf caps would be better.
The 1.75MH inductor must be changed. Decato went from the stock #18 gauge, to #16 gauge. This affects the crossover frequency, and the SPL of the woofers.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Grazie :-) thank you very much

Dear Westmassguy before start to assembly the xover I've a last question, for the resistor (I find 0.47 ohm instead 0.5) is better 10w or 5 w ? Or they have the same effect?
I thank you in advance

Recap RTA 15 TL ... First Step :-) -
All point to point, very nice. Two things, the type of bolt you used to secure the large Inductor, and the Sandcast resistors. If the bolt is stainless steel you're good. If its regular steel, you've increased the value of the inductor. I would have used Mills, or Mundorf MOX Resistors.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I'm not sure if I'm seeing this correctly, but do you have the 0.5 ohm resistor in series with the 1.75 mH inductor? If so, that's incorrect. The resistor is in series with only the tweeter circuit.

The 0.5 ohm resistor is in series with only the tweeter circuit.
Before closing I covered the xover with a thin layer of soundproofing.
Now the sound is incredible ... amazing ... wonderful
I want to thank all of you for the advice
Thanks a lot from Italy -

If i would do as the picture states, i would end up with the 13500uf on the tweeter side. C2 and C3 is switched in the drawing. Or is it just my late -92 RTA15-TL thats different? -
Did Polk switch to a smaller, square circuit board on your 15tls? Trace the circuit. The 13.5uf is the shunt in the low pass circuit.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Yes they have the small square board, the shunt is named C2 on this one.
-
There's your answer. Just carefully trace it out. Do them one at a time, so you can refer back to the original.
The last Decato Mod I did, had the old round circuit boards:
