Oh come on hnbgolf.... I live in Indy for Christ's sake.
These would be perfect next to my bigscreen.
All you have to do is call / e-mail the seller and get him to agree to sell them to me for your bid price. Seems fair enough...doesn't it? There will be other 2.3's or 1.2's in your future.
Besides, they are too expensive to ship and Indy is too far away to hassle with. Let me have 'em. Ok? Puhleeeese? -

If you really wanted them why didn't you bid enough to get them. I mean being in Indy and all...Oh, the bottle has been to me, my closes friend, my worse enemy! -
no their mine
-
Actually, until ONE FUC$'ing minute until the end of the auction, I was the high bidder meeting the reserve price (My dog's name is Tramp). Are you driving to Indy for the pickup? If so, maybe we can get together. Come on now... play nice and share.
Let me save on this once-in-a-lifetime-no-shipping-expense deal. -
Hnbgolf,
What was you "Max Bid Amount"? I'm curious.
The #2 guy really sets the sale price. How much would you have gone to retain ownership of the 2.3TL's. -
i'm going to have almost 1500 in them after shipping get a life you have to get off the porch to run with the big dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!

hnbgolf,
For the love of those 2.3TL speakers... don't subject them to the possibility of shipping damage. As for the high cost of shipping, your not going to get any sympathy from me.
I only wish that I had bid higher.... driving your price even further up. -
not to rub salt in the wound but didn't these speaks have a buy it now of $900? What a deal!

Hope......they did not...

If they had a buy-it-now option, they would now be in my living room instead of a nasty truck ride all the way to Florida.
The guy even said... "LOCAL PICKUP ONLY". Can't you read hnbgolf? -
i used some smarts does anybody want my sda 1's? if so e-mail me with an offer

1. SDA 1.2 (not TL version).
2. SDA 3.1TL (Just to see if they really do sound better than the similarly sized SDA 1C's).
3. SDA 2.3TL ('Cause, dammit, I just want a pair).
Looking for all of the above with oak cabinets.
I have a set of 1.2's in Oak in great shape if your still looking. mcowan@mcowan.com is my email. Let me know. Thanks

Damn,
Sumbuddy went and used the "Buy It Now" option:
Auction Started: Sep-02-02 05:49:50 PDT
Auction Ended: Sep-02-02 19:09:19 PDT
It all reminds me of something Hoss Cartwright said over three decades ago: "Them that gits to the table first...gits.

Tempting.....but I don't want the drama of having them shipped cross-country. A pair will eventually surface within driving distance.;)Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
There is something funny about the top left mid-driver in those photos...it just looks wrong.Political Correctness'.........defined

F1nut,
No, nothing wrong. That is the so-called "doughnut" driver. Some of the 2.3's had that driver. I forget what its particular sonic benifit was. Maybe Ken Swauger in Polk Customer Service sould supply an answer.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
"Doughnut driver"......ok, I'm intrigued. Ken, can you elaborate?Political Correctness'.........defined

The story I got, was some of the early 2.3's had "too much midrange" the "doughnuts" were added to slow the driver down by adding mass.Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B

Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
Outlaw ICBM - crossover

ken i thought all 2.3's were configured that same way? 4 on the left and 2 on the right is this doughnut on srs's only? like he listed, i thought all 2.3's were TL's
-
All 2.3's have the same number of drivers, but the types of drivers and the crossover networks of the two models are different:
The "TL" version of the 2.3 uses the SL3000 tweeter. The earlier non-TL 2.3 uses the SL2000 tweeter.
The 2.3TL uses six MW6510 drivers. The 2.3 uses two MW6510 drivers for the dimensional array and in the stereo array uses two MW6511 drivers and two MW6513 drivers.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
Hnbgolf,
First off, I was out of town - so, I missed this auction.
Second, they are in Pittsburgh, not INDY.
Third, they aren't the TL-version.
So, I'm going to keep on bitching. -
I think they mass loaded two of the midbass drivers to extend low frequency performance. I think. Have been wrong before.

hey what is the best center speaker to use with 2.3's
-
also my rec. is denon 5803 the room size is 14.5 x 26ft long i sit back at 14.5ft
-
I am of the opinion that one doesn't need a center speaker when using SDA speakers. The imaging of SDA's places the vocals in the center. I believe someone posted on here that their SDA set up actually sounded better with their center turned off.Political Correctness'.........defined
