Yeh, I wonder why Polk didn't use wood on those centre channels to match the rest of Lsi speakers. So where are those pics? Show us man. We all have a mess in our basements, who cares? Go ahead post a pic.

Yes, you are right if they are powering them with AVR you won’t hear their full potential. 15’s are power hungry and need as much as power as possible. When you auditioning take your own music material you are familiar with and compare.
Cheers

Well, I didn't get to go to Tweeters afterall I got up a 4:30 AM to catch a flight to PA Wed. I worked with our supplier on issues until about 7PM local time and then had to go round up supper. On top of that, I had about 3 hours worth of work waiting for me in the hotel room. Needless to say, I never made it to Tweeters since I had to leave the next day. I was bummed I never got to try the LSi15's out, but maybe Olkiepolkie will sell some in the Memphis area so I can give them a listen -

I'm speculating that Polk thought nice wood panels would be a waste because most people would place the LSiC on top of a television or inside an audio cabinet, in which cases the wood panels would not be visually significant.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
yep that is a messy basement kinda reminds me of the room I sitting in right now
as long as I leave the light off the mess doesn't look bad from just the light of the moniter

Hey bro there is absolutely nothing wrong with you basement. The so-called mess is relative. What counts is that you have a nice gear and enjoy it to the fullest. Your cherry Lsis look awesome and the SVS must rock your foundations!!!
Enjoy

actually I cleaned it up for a babysitter than later came. you should see it now. The SVS??? It's almost never used!!!! Once I went into the 990 and upped the bass on the mains, the LSi15's can really pound hard down low. But that's not the issue: it's how LOUD the SVS is. Maybe standing next to a semi would be a good description. it can shake your heart out of your chest and the one or two times I tried I made sure my nieghbors weren't home!!
what do you think? grills off or on??? -
knownalien wrote:what do you think? grills off or on???
Dunno, I have asked this question before on this forum and most have the grills on. When I got my Lsi15's a week ago played them naked all week. This week they are covered. It depends how I feel.

Alien,
You said you had to straighten up before the babysitter came. This means you have young prying fingers abound. I would recommend grills on to protect the speakers from this curious fingers.
Once the children get older (i.e. gone to college) then I would remove the grills from the fronts and center. Leave the grills on the LSi9's so you do not feel like you are always being watched.

Congrats Gator. I doubt you'll ever sell those LSi. They're beautiful and sound as good as they look. I know I won't be selling my 9's.
I just PM'd you. My pre should arrive within a few weeks. How long is the drive from Ajax to Toronto for you? Believe it or not, I have no idea where Ajax is. -

you are giving me pangs of guilt. why? you should see how I make my girls walk on egg shells when they are next to them. although inexplicably the oldest (7) poked right in the middle of the midrange drivers of the 15's (though appeared to cause no damage)!!! But it's kinda my fault too I guess because I love my speakers so much and touching (no jokes!!! ) them that I (supervised) let them touch the speakers too so that they can feel the energy like I do. But dammit!! they look so hot without the grills!!!! -

I'll let yyou know but it is unlikely. It was not long ago that I remembered saving paycheck to paycheck to get them and when Tweeter had them $100 off, I bit!!! The 15's have a higher chance of leaving before the 9's because I have an SVS sub rendering the 15's 8" woofer somewhat obsolete. -
I have some ref series in my system and I love them for music and movies. ANd the new ref series line is supposed to be improved as well. They get my vote.
