Like you said: Bush let it happen, you can't defend him. That was my entire point. Stop with the word-games.
Who cares if it was a photo-op? I don't think anyone is denying it, and the troops loved it. Were they all forced to cheer him on? -

of course not. and it was great for temporary morale which is a good thing. But like Tyler Durdon once said - "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken." -

President of Club Polk -
I brought the Vietnam example just merely to point out the fact that the last time we had such a polarized opinions on a single war was at that time. And the troops were the one doing the real fighting.
Murtha might have gone overly melodramatic, but perhaps, based on his personal experiences, he senses that this is a familiar beginning to a terrible ending? I don't know.
Either way, I will sit quietly in the corner, not because I don't have opinions, but because I am not sure anymore of what is the exit plan that is least painful for the country.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

I'm blaming Bush for letting liberals say it was a photo-op, not for what he did. It was a moment for the troops, and they know and appreciated it. Three years after, it's been twisted into this photo-op thing you keep talking about. Murtha's comments are current. I can respect any veteran for their service to their country, but that doesn't excuse him for helping fan the anti-American sentiment in Iraq, painting targets on the backs of current service men and women. Free speech shouldn't shield anyone who incites Iraqis to join the insurgency and kill our troops. He deserves a muzzle and a jail cell for treason. -

No, George is the one that hit on an undercover cop in a men's room and showed him his ****."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Mission Accomplished banner + President landing on aircraft in flightsuit + cameras waiting = Photo-op.
Sorry.
Or do you think me treasonous? -

I think there is room to see different viewpoints on this. But I haven't accused you of being treasonous or knee-jerk. Yet you've responded to me as if I have.
If you were a highly visible member of congress and went in front of the cameras calling our soldiers cold blooded killers of Iraqis fanning the flames and recruitment efforts of the insurgency before an official investigation had been completed, I certainly wouldn't call you very concerned about the lives of our troops.
Bush photo-op (whatever) = poor judgement at worst.
Murtha's knee-jerk slander against our troops providing PR ammo for the insurgency = you tell me what it will result in at the worst. -
Cheddar, are you being fed the same intel that has the President somehow able to smile every day?
With the exception of the whacked out church group protesting soldiers funerals, I don't know of any mass group of people that think our soldiers shoulder the blame for being there. You're an idiot to try to spew half truth's and try to spin that into fact. If you're comfortable blindly following leaders that have knowingly/willingly led you into ****, stay there and enjoy it, not blame others for you being there.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Are you defending Murtha's comments? -

geezus krised. all i know is that this war, as in most all wars of the past, has got our nation divided. that is too bad. but at least we all care for our people overseas. well, most of us. and i'd sure hate to be a soldier caught up in some firestorm of bullets and rpg's on the frontline while watching your brothers get shot and killed and trying to remind yourself just why the hell we are here, and then remembering that there are those back in the states that HATE what you are doing there. ****. they needn't worry about things like that. talk about a strain on morale.
i wish we could all be on the same page. i see bush attempting to secure our peaceful future for the long run. i see no alterior motives. maybe i'm blind. but i believe he sees things as i do, what happens now affects what happens in the years to come. let's get a hold of these ****-**** and kill 'em all so we needn't watch our backs all the time. think i'm being paranoid? think we don't need to beware? take your average sacrificial insurgent bomber and think about his demeanor. his mission is to kill. and if that person was given the right tools, dirty bomb or what have you, he would not hesitate to use those means to accomplish his goals. i sure do hope that never happens on our soil, or anywhere in the world, for that matter.
i swear it only takes one act like that to take place and we'll get americans back on the same page!

It's not all bad. Like I said, Americans are nowhere near 50/50 on cut and run. America still has resolve to fight this war. They defeated that idiot Kerry's proposal in the Senate to withdraw troops by year end by 86-13. With all the lip service to timetables and how badly the war is going, even the democrats know how disastrous it would be for them politically to start pulling the troops out. Their leaders like Pelosi and Reid will call for a timetable, and say almost anything to drain support for the war, but they don't have the balls to actually set a date for withdrawal, at least not yet.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but you have to remember that the people that are abusing soldiers in Iraq are not part of a government organization, they are doing what they are trained to do and nothing more. Whereas the Americans were trained to treat the prisoners fairly, yet they were abusing them on government time and money in an organized manner. Although the events are similar and are both unfair, I dont believe they should be judged in the same way.dvd player: samsung DVD-HD850
