Looks great, but my OCD side would require Technics labeled reels for photo and display purposes. The Pioneer reels are very nice though.

Next manned launch is at 6am Thursday morning from KSC..........should be a great launch to watch as it will still be dark out....expecting a insane amount of tourists/watchers for this one
I'll be on my roof for this one. Too many people on 528 to make it worth going to Cruise Terminal 5 top level parking garage. Thats our usual view point. Working there has its privileges. But not worth it sometimes. -

Well -- in fairness
the tape width is the same (1/4 inch) and the tape speed, 3-3/4 ips, was one of the choices (albeit not a great one) on consumer grade reel to reel decks in the old days... but, yeah, someone's either crafting humorous fiction to ensure internet fame or they were drinkin' the bong water before typing. 
This being said, there were some eight-track, quarter-inch "prosumer" (barely) reel to reel decks made & sold (e.g., by Fostex). Utterly incompatible with 8-track cartridge tape format, of course (kinda by definition), they were aimed at the "garage band"/MTV star wannabe market, I think -- for studio-style multitrack work (as opposed to listening to Journey or Barb[a]ra Streisand at home or in the car). They were also not particularly well designed or built, apparently, and haven't held up too well.
