    whoa, is Saturn shootin' sparks?
Is Saturn's south pole made of Wint-O-Green Life Saver stuff?

The magnetosphere of Saturn is the cavity created in the flow of the solar wind by the planet's internally generated magnetic field. Discovered in 1979 by the Pioneer 11 spacecraft, Saturn's magnetosphere is the second largest of any planet in the Solar System after Jupiter.

    Total geekout, D. ;)

Did Mr. Hardy really just get Hardy'd by someone else? Did he really just refer to the magnetosphere of Saturn as a wint-o-green Life Saver? What world am I living in?

Only one of us'll ever know for sure... ;-)

In seriousness: "aurora australis" makes sense. In seriousness, I didn't know (or remember) what it was.
Dammit, Jim, I'm a biochemist, not Carl freaking Sagan!

    ;-)

PS, It does make sense that a guy callin' himself Voltz would know about magnetospheres 'n' such, don't it?

Space... The final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Hardy. It's continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new wint-o-green Life Savers. To boldly go where no one has gone before.

Oh, yeah -- him. He has the advantage of still being alive, too.

Not a thing. It was a butterfly cut of N.Y. strip and ribeye (?). About 2" thick and marinated in green olive juice and applewood rub. About a quarter to half inch of fat between the cuts and seared like a mo fo on the grill. Pull apart tender. I feel good about eating it.

heh -- I roasted a small rack o'lamb on the ol' Weber tonight -- no photos (so off topic, sorry) but it was marvy.

    Glad you're home, lightman1! :-)
I am sure it is beautiful there -- I think right now is the most beautiful time of the year here 'cept early-mid October.

You gents are making me hungry with all this talk of Lamb and steaks. Best rack of Lamb I ever had....believe it or not, was from an upscale Sushi place by me. Who woulda thunk it eh.

    Skip,
Thanks for the teaser pal, but we are waiting on that "more to come" stuff. Patient putzes that we are...

I (really) like lupines... I've been meaning for the past couple of weeks to get out and photograph some of the local stands of 'em... today, I finally did. They're a bit past their prime, but still (to me, at any rate) really gorgeous.

It was a gorgeous day here - these photos don't really do the day, or the flowers, justice. I shoulda used a longer lens to get more "dramatic" images.

Among my favorite highway signs in the country -- the spot, south of Boston, on I-95 South (which is actually known to all in the environs as 'route 128'... but that's another story) instantly, magically, turns into I-93 North.

    I don't have a photo, though, sadly.

EDIT: well, this guy does -- sort of.

i was just on "that road" last weekend. It's all 95 to me as i'm from East New York. Remember, Mass only exists from the Cape to 95. In some circles, Boston is the state of Massachusetts.

I see from your photos above that the weedwacker has been shelved...

Today's project, a cooler cooler using repurposed wood from the old boardwalk. Some sanding to do; but first, it's time to test it. ;)

At a brief glance I thought that said "Blowtorch Audio TWERKS"... my business trip to Bloomington - Normal, IL and lack of sleep must be catching up with me.....

Thought since it is Ron and Russ, I wouldn't be TOO surprised if that was what it actually said
