Question - Dating

So, I broke up with the ex about a year ago after a nearly 3 year relationship, needed this year to reflect on other stuff. Some of you know how bad all that was. =\The other day it dawns on me that I need to get back in the swing of things. Got a lot of new stuff going for me now, and I'm ready to get back in the scene again.
So anyhow, last week this woman walks into my office. She gives her spiel, etc, and I relayed her over to my engineer. Her company does some finishing that our company would have the need for. Needless to say I sent her an email inviting her to come back, keep in mind, we have a need for this. Not asking her back because I thought she was cute. So we set-up an appointment and she stopped by my office again today. I gave her some drawings of the parts we want manufactured as well as an overview of the company. Really cool girl and I want to ask her out on a date. This isn't gigantic corporation working with gigantic corporation here, so I don't feel ethically obligated to keep my mouth shut here. Perfectly capable of keeping business on the business track and relationships on the relationship track. Problem here is that I think this woman is awesome and I want to grab a few drinks with her.
So, about to click send on an email to her asking if she has a non-work related email so I could ask her a question, namely, a date.
What do you guys think? Not sure how old she is, no rock, and assuming my age, if not a little younger. Just my type of woman. Was just going to ask her point blank if she's available and go from there.
You have to realize that I have had 2 real LTRs in my life. That takes up 5 years of my life right there. I dated a lot of girls in high school, but it was never very serious and I usually never had to initiate it. =P So this is always new ground for me. I'm excited about relationships again so I want to give this a shot.
You've got 30 minutes before I send this thing off.

Seems less on the spot for her, especially given the circumstances. You still think so? Otherwise I'd definitely do it in that way. Was just trying to put myself in her shoes.

Good on ya Demi--go for it, but I am old fashioned, I would call her. But I suppose times have changed.
Its time you got back in the game.

Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
Okay, guys, compromise....Send her an email saying "Got a non-work related question for you, do you have another e-mail, my cell phone number is blah blah blah." Like I said, just trying to consider the circumstances and don't want to put her on the spot. That's bad. -
Lot of variables with your work but if you feel it is ethical then go for it.
I know I can keep work and private seprate with employee's I sometimes party with but I have never tried with dating.
If the decision to use her services for work is in someone elses court then definatly go for it.
Especially if she is hot.Skynut

I'm 49% the boss, and the old man said "Does she have a rock on her finger?" Me: "Nope." old man "Go for it!"

email gives her an out...if she so choses it. if she's interested, she'll bite. if not, it's easier for you and for her to say no via email. this is the technological world. people get married after meeting through the net. remember not so long ago when that was considered nerdy? got news for you folk, it is not nerdy anymore. if you think it is, then you are mistaken. shoot off that email, bro. good luck.

I realize it's chicken **** to not do it in Real Life terms, so I am. I'm just trying to test the waters here and make it not akward.

You're right, definitely. Thing is...I do have an issue with using the office phones to ask women on dates. I would think that calling her at work would be a bad idea.
The way I'm seeing it is this...If I'm giver her my number in an email, she's going to know what's coming next. It's obvious. No? -
go email, but don't ask for it to be a date. rather ask her out for a non-professional outing. then if she goes along, work your magic in person.

She's out of your league.
You don't have a chance.
You'll probably just talk about your ex if you do go out with her.
Give up.
MUHAHAHAHAHHAH~~~~~ -
No way, brunette.
-
rather ask her out for a non-professional outing
People may get married after meeting on the net but dude, be real, do it face to face or over the phone, that's the respectful way to go about it. Don't hide behind an email. Let her hear it from your own voice, not read it on a computer, that's so chicken ****.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
she doesn't remind you of your ex, does she?

Nah, probably just putting on the sales game. We don't know eachother at all. It's all surface **** right now. Want to see what's beyond all that. I got my type and this was it. -

btw, the only time you meet face 2 face is while at work, correct? you can't ask for a date on company premisis. and you may never see her again if the deal falls through. if you call her, it would be like using company info to track her down. i suppose the same goes for email addy, but i dunno. still say take the email course.

She doesn't work with me. She works for a different company and came in here to sell come stuff. I'm the one who wants to go and ask her out. I'm just not going to call her while she's at her office, I think that's really bad. I also don't think asking her that while she's in my office would be a good idea either. Got to get a way to talk to her off premises, even though I wouldn't get in any kind of trouble doing so.
