Only I would find the one guy in the world who doesn't get hot for this stuff!

I have been sneaky also. I don't like to be but mysteriously one night the Polk Fairy came and replaced my Rti100s with LSi15's. He never noticed. Also the Denon Fairy came one night and beat the crap out of the Sony Fairy and replaced my Sony DVD with the Denon 2910. I guess he just never heard the struggle :D

There are some other issues also of course...I mean we just bought this house and it was way expensive so he is stressing about that. I wish he was into HT like I am ..but he does enjoy watching the Red Sox in HD on my Tv - that I can assure you.

Maybe the boy friend fairy came and kidnapped the real man and replaced him with well......a fairy :D:p

OK that's it...I'll take no more pot shots at someone I don't even know and can't defend themselves ;) . Sounds like things worked out. It would have been a shame to end it over a mis-understanding like that.

    Good luck

I just don't know what to say after reading this thread. First off I find out about Troy, then I'm thinking about this guy is who doesn't like subs and such, then I start thinking of commitment and the like. Cfrizz had it right in my opinion. I'd have a second one delivered tomorrow for stereo bass...

Ditto...keep pushing the envelope until you find his limits. At least *if* you need a future *hot* button I think you've found it  .

Hey Darla, from the sounds of it, I think you should keep the sub & tell him that until he puts a ring on your finger & says I do, and you have a joint checking account, what you do with YOUR money is your business.

As long as BOTH of you are keeping up with your obligations FIRST, then this shouldn't be a big deal.

This would be different if the 2 of you were married, then I would say that you should have at least given him a heads up about the purchase.

But since you are not, tell him to not let the door hit him on the way out, & make sure he only takes what belongs to him when he leaves!

I mean now i can see where he is coming from 2,000 dollars for a subwoofer is a lot of money. If you had went out and bought a whole stereo system i could understand that a whole lot better than just a damn sub. I have been in car audio since i was old enough to drive thats always been my passion is have the best sound i can afford in my truck, but i must admit i used to have a problem of always wanting to upgrade every few months. I felt like there was better stuff than what i owned but it even bothered me about spending all that money and i was single because lets face it anyway you look at it that's throwing away money it's not a need it's a want. You have to look at it this way you have to use common sense no matter how much money you make or have. 2,000 dollars for a subwoofer is not using common sense. I mean hell the jl audio w7's don't cost that much and they are considered one of the best subs on the market.

I agree that I should save and be responsible (and I do) but I could also get hit by a bus tomorrow. Last year I was involved in a shooting at work( I was fine-the other guy not so much) and later in the year I was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism after a flight to Boston. Mind you- I am in great shape , don't smoke or anything and still got the PE so I know all too well that anything can happen and you sure can't take it with you. (Although I am going to try like hell to get that sub up there!)

I just have to laugh. I am in a "living arrangement". I catch hell ALL the time about my "hobby/sickness". But it's real nice to see the family cozied up on the couch watching a movie with the house shaking, or playing video games upstairs in 5.1. (They aren't allowed to TOUCH the 2 channel rig)

I make 80% of the money. Our bills are paid. We eat well. The kids have new clothes. Yada yada yada.

If I spend, I do it on pre owned. No traces ;) You can lie your **** off about how much it costs, like it matters.

Hey, as long as you take care of business, it's all good. He'll get over it.

I'm sorry... but at $2000, hasn't the point of diminishing returns been far surpassed when it comes to subs? Sure, there are gains to be had, but can it sound that much better than a $1000 sub? Guess it all depends on the HT setup...

Anyway, on the opposite side of things, my girlfriend could care less about my obsession with speakers. She likes to listen to good music, but doesn't really care how it gets to her ears. I told her that if we ever get married, the speakers have to stay. She says that's fine as long as she has room for her shoes :p. That's a few years off, anyway...

Wingnut4772 thats true that we might not live to see tomorrow hell for all i know i could get killed going to work in the morning. But that don't mean im going to run out there i spend all my savings and cash my investments in just because i could get killed tomorrow. I mean you just have to have a cut off point in anything you do. Now i don't have a problem with you buying audio products because i love them also, but you also have to make wise decisions.
