I like to give it a shot but I'm a lefty and I doubt they have lefty versions of that game.

as far as the rhythm category is concerned...
the original Parappa the Rappa is THE STANDARD
IMHOI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
Parappa started it all but it's way below the standard compared to what we have today.
I'd take Space Channel 5 over Parappa any day. -

Math Blaster - Yep, talk about going 'way' back! I hated math with a passion, and this game made it pretty darned fun. It marks the only time in my life to where I looked forward to solving arithmatic, vice running away from it.
Aces of the Pacific - Talk about a game that changed me - forever. Purchased as a B-day gift for my dad, I got hooked on this flight sim in a major, major way. Despite being over a decade old, it is still one of the most historically accurate, and complex (in terms of career and missions) flight sims ever made. In my eyes, it is *still* a flight sim which I use as a benchmark to judge all others.
Doom 1 / 2 - Talk about a classic if ever there was a classic. Wolfenstein got the ball rolling, Doom made it an immense success. Great graphics, great 2vs2 player action. Great fun... Great atmosphere.
Warcraft 2 - This strategy game really did set the pace for the genre. A storyline that is just out of this world, with a great sound-track and great graphics for the time. From single play, to multi player, to map making - this game is what really rocketed the strategy genre.
Total Annihilation - The sales for this strategy game was never too high. Just the same, Cavedog entertainment released a game that contains perhaps the single best gaming score I've ever heard- obviously this composor was heavily influenced by John Williams. The gameplay and the means to go about collecting resources was genius - even by todays standards. From the animations to fierce styling - its one of my all time favorite strat. games
F-22 Raptor, from Novalogic. As a simulator, this game fell beneath a few marks. It was more like a cross between a complex sim and an arcade game. At the time, the graphics were stunning - but the single player sucked balls. So what made this flight sim so great? Its multi player and its community... Never have I experienced anything like it before. The game was popular enough to allow people from all over the globe to join the 6-7 servers hosted - giving you more than enough competition - yet it was small enough of a community to feel just like that - a community. What can I say? The game changed me forever..
Since then, I haven't found too many game's I've really been into. Sure, there are some fantastic games out there - but all I've tried haven't given me the want or desire to stick with it and dedicate my time to perfect a craft/skill.
I love flight simulators .... especially "combat jets"My current new system (step by step )

does anyone remember the games dragons lair and space ace, these were laser disk games, it was kind of like playing a cartoon, i could never get very far, the controls were not very responsive but the games looked specacular
-
Ha ha. I remember that game. I think it also came out for 3-D-o. It was more like an interactive cartoon. Ah, I remember. I also came out on the Atari Jaguar CD! Remember the Jaguar? lol:).
Here's another game I forgot to mention: DAYTONA USA from Sega. Of course, you need to play it at the arcade for the best experience but the Saturn version was decent. The re-make on Dreamcast was nice too. -
hmmm....
Parodius (snes)
Nights into Dreams (saturn) (my personal Fav)
Silent Hill 2 (PC)
Half Life 2 (PC) (my current Fav)
Splinter Cell Pandora (PC)
Space Channel 5 (Dreamcast)

SOCOM 1 & 2 were awesome. Haven't played online yet but spent hours (and hours and hours) playing these. Another great game was Metal Gear (the original).

Dark Castle - I think I played it on a MAC in school way back when?
Galaga - Arcade
Pirates! - C64. Thanks to Sid Meiers for releasing it on the PC and Xbox.
The Bard's Tale 1, 2, 3 - C64. Blew whole summers mapping the virtual world.
Harpoon - C64. Great naval wargame. Never could get my mid-air refueling to work.
Devil's Crush - Sega. Favorite pinball game of all time.
Doom 1, 2
Duke Nukem
Simcity - 3000 Unlimited is my fav version. Rush hour is pretty but I don't like how the continent is setup. It's also harder. Great series.
Age of Empire 2 - Great when playing with a friend against computer foes. This game is still loaded.
Half-Life - Didn't like the ending. Haven't finished HL2.
Civilization - 3 is my favorite. 4 bored me.
Madden Football - Been playing this series since the C64, migrated to the PC, now I play it on a Xbox. Love franchise mode.
Rainbow 6 - The beginning of 1st person co-opt play for me. Loved it.
Zoo Tycoon Series - Very educational and fun for all ages.
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 - What RPG should be.
Panzer General 2 - One of the best turn based, hex game of all time. Dated yet I still play it at least once a year.
Close Combat II and III - Great WWII real time strategy.
Halo - Loved it.
There are probably many more that I've forgotten about. -
Final Fantasy 1 and 7
All of the Zelda titles
Doom 1 and 2
All of the Heroes of Might and Magic titles
Half Life 2
All of the Tiger Woods games on the PC. Not a big fan of them on the console.
Asheron's Call - Took away about five years of my life that I would like back.
Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas
I've been an avid gamer since I was 6 so I'm sure there are a ton I missed. -
-
Speaking of great/funny one liners, I forgot about Fallout I, II, and Tactics. I loved Tactics.
Plus, the ability to switch from turn base to real-time was great.
This was one hilarious series, especially when you took aimed shots at specific body parts. -
Sean,
LOL. DN 3d was really something. I still liked the original Doom. I liked the dark and gloomy atmosphere more than the futuristic stuff.
Another one to add to the list the The Simpsons: Hit&Run That's an awesome game. Just like Grand Theft Auto but with the Simpsons characters in Springfield. So cool -
Forgot to mention it, but THE BEST boxing game on any console was a game called 4-D boxing for the PC. It was way back during the MS DOS days.
-
Ah! Forgot about boxing games. My favorite is "Super Punch Out" for SNES. That was funny. "Ready 2 Rumble" on Dreamcast was also fun.
-
Atari 2600 - Asteroids & Space Invaders
PC - Xwing, Tie Fighter, Doom2, Duke Nukem, Quake 2 (still my favorite online pc game), and Half Life (Counterstrike online - 2nd favorite pc online game)
Xbox - MS Links, Battlefield 1942 (my new favorite online), and Star Wars Battlefront. (Was going to get BF2 but got 360. I'll get it if Microsoft includes in their backwards compatability updates  )
Xbox 360 - Hoping BF1942 on 360 will be my newfave, waiting impatiently for it though since my original Xbox has left the building. -
I really enjoyed PILOT WINGS on SNES and All the ZELDA series were fun as well! Last but not least...I spent alot of time on the original SIMCITY-my favorite game!2 Channel Rig

I was in storage looking for some college books and saw my n64, so I said, what the hell, grabbed the system and games and headed home. Well, I have to say, After playing through most of the games I loved when I was younger(including pilotwings, star fox, turok 1&2, excitebike, etc., etc.) , I lost interest in most of them very quick (I was laughing my **** off playing star fox cause the voice acting is done so bad and just the story is just dumb). They just seemed very out-dated and well they are. So when I popped in goldeneye, I got nervous cause I knew this is one of my favorite games not only in this generation, but of all time. Well, its been almost ten years since its release, and its just as good. Yes I know the people's heads look like boxes. But I don't care. and sure the controls aren't as good as most FPS are today. But they are also not as fun. I don't think I ever had the much playing a single player game then playing the aztec level on 00 agent (haven't beat it yet, but give me time:) ). I think I might have to call my old buddies from back in the day to play a 4 player deathmatch on library. Care to join us?
Well, I think you can point two and two together and figure out why I posted this in the "greatest game of alll time" thread.AVR: H/K AVR240

Any of the classic Williams games still hold up, really...never get old, and even if you 'master' them they will still find a way to kick you in the rear from time to time. -
Tie Fighter for PC was the best game I've ever played. I hope they do a new one in the future...:D
