Eh, I have total of - count em, 5 speakers that are unshielded. 3 of which are completely beside my TV and are unshielded. Not to mention, there are 9 drivers around my TV that are not shielded. Dosnt make a bit of difference.

Unless he is going to put them like right beside it he should be ok. About 1-2 feet is more than enough. If he has problems, he can always install bucking magnets.

And for your information, the Adcom GFA-535 puts out 100 watts into 4 ohms... not 80... ;)

    HTPic11Frontstage1.jpg

Unshielded! The sub is unshielded, the speakers have front and rear drivers, all of which are unshielded. The center is shielded of course. All drivers start out unshielded... ;)

Cool. Thanks bro. I didnt know that. I thought that big **** magnet on the back of the Momo would screw up my pic.

Speaking of which, at first glance of your tv that looks like a reflection. I first thought "WOW! Sid's got a pretty hot chick hanging out in his room!"

It wouldnt be a problem. My speakers go on the top shelves of an entertainment center so theyre a good 18"+ away from the tv.

Man, I just gotta talk about how good these speakers are. They are breaking in quite nicely and sound better everyday.

The tweeters are simply flawless. I mean my Ram has about 20 ft^2 of windshield and my tweeters are firing right into it and there is very VERY little harshness from it. I have my treble turned down -2 centered on 17.5 KHz but still I betcha any other tweeter would be awfully hard to listen to especially heavy metal, yet these things just shine.

The thing that has suprised me most is these things are, dare I say it, more detailed than the Mighty MM6!

The midbass isnt as hard hitting as the MM6 but since it sounds so much better and smoother it blends in much better with my sub and the bass is more upfront now than ever before.

While my imaging isnt perfect due to placement it isnt that bad either. The height is just below eye level and the left/center/right are well defined just located wrong.

    These are my final settings:

    Mid gain - 10:00
    Tweeter gain -9:00
    Treble - -2 centered at 17.5 KHz
Tweeter in phase and mid crossed over.

    Man these things are awesome!

Then you definitely dont want to run down to Tweeter and listen to them.

Weird thing is they have em installed on their soundboard as coaxials. Looks kinda out of place next to those Boston and Focal components, that is till you fire em up!!

Mine have had 2 weeks and sound much better than they did at first. The midrange is fattening up quite nicely.

Whatever, the SR's sound awful. I guess if you think the sound of balling up aluminum foil is what a cymbal is supposed sound like, more power to ya. And as Clara Peller said from the grave, "Where's the bass?"

I WILL NOT get the upgrade bug, no, no, no, they suck, they're horrible, just awfull.... no....

i still feel the old DB 6.5" components were the finest pieces of audio ever built for the car by polk.

my respect for old DB stuff is limitless.

... altho i have not heard the new ones yet - if they are as good as they look in pictures, i am sure they will leave me drooling and shaking and begging for money to buy them.

I believe the new Signature Reference to be one of the best speakers on the market, and its my personal favorite. I never heard the old DB components but if I were a betting man Id bet heavily on the sweet SR's.

Man, I dunno how I missed this thread. Congrats, Mac! Sounds like they're reall working out nicely for ya. I,too, was gonna ask what your plans for your MM6s are, but alas, you're keeping them.

What are you doing about having Sid make you some cabinets? Snag that Adcom for around $100, and you'll be singing. I think that's a great idea. I wanna see you do it! Come on! Go for it!!

Cody is p-whipped so he got them for his girlfriends car! :D

Im thinking about mounting the tweeters in the A-pillars. In fact Im sitting here debating if I should just go and do it right now. Ive already got the wire ran up thru the dash to where theyre mounted now so it would be a hard job. Im just scared half to death of cutting a whole in my A's.

I thought tho, I could keep the piece I cut out and if I ever needed to move the tweets I could super glue them back in. You would still be able to see the ring but at least there wouldnt be a great big freaking hole in it.

I also need to go track down a couple vibrating panels Ive got that are irritating me. Im going to be competing in a SQ comp (assuming he can get enough competitors) Sept 10 so I need to get this stuff sqaured away finally.

However, as I sit here typing this I hear some Gawddamned thunder in the background!! This has absolutely been the worst summer EVER!! Every single freaking day its eiterh 150 degrees or its a constant downpour all day long! I havent ridden my mountain bike in over a month and I cant get any work done on my system!!!

THIS IS PISSING ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Polk angle mounting cup will work pretty well. My A's are angled toward the dash so using the angle cup it will have them firing straight across at each other which is where I would want them anyway. Id just have to cut that hole cause they just couldnt supply a surface mounting cup. Nooooo. That would have been way too easy!

    Maybe one day. Dont know.

Gonna get a set of RTi4's first, then a CSi3 and a pair or R15's and see how they go first. Once I get a house a seperate amp will be more practical and then I may put those MM6's to good use.
