Name the song that was originally supposed to be titled "In the Garden Of Eden", but was changed, because of the fear of negative feedback from the holy rollers and critics?
sda2mike is right ...but your "reason" is incorrect...

The truth (according to the liner notes on 'the best of' CD compilation) is that drummer Ron Bushy was listening to the track through headphones and he just couldn't hear correctly and simply distorted what Doug Ingle answered when Ron asked him for the title of the song. He wrote what he heard on a demo copy. A record company executive saw it and decided to use it as the title, since it sounded mystical, and Eastern spirituality was big at the time, with The Beatles going to India and The Rolling Stones experimenting with Indian instruments.

ps: Of course there are the rumors that Bushy and Ingle were totally stoned at the time...which is probably the direct cause of the the slurring and spelling.

Well I may be, but I'm just going by what I've heard for thirty years about the song and what the record execs feared.

    correcto!!

thinking about in a gadda da vida.....i remember as a kid, just getting into 'cool music', mid to late 70s, when FM could be considered a part of your stereo :D ...anyway, they would make a big deal about announcing the upcoming spin of the '17 minute version' of the song. i guess that gave you time to get yer room and yer mind set up for the epic. ;) those were the days, i guess :)

Since we just had a question that touched on popular myths about R & R here is a question about a myth that was widely reported but WAS NOT true.

What was rumored to be the inspiration for the name of Don McLean's song "American Pie"?

    Close enough for a cigar....

The rumor was that "American Pie" was the name of the plane that crashed killing Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. While the "the day the music died" was a direct reference to Holly and February 3, 1959, the plane was not named American Pie.

Probably somewhere in the British Isles. Doesn't sound like Ireland. Wales or Scotland maybe. I have not idea what it means.

If you have to google it...it ain't trivia...it's research....

You may be right....It just sounds "Celtic/Gaelic" to me and a guess is it would be in the British Isles somewhere.

It is mentioned in "Hammer of the Gods", but I loaned my copy to a friend, years ago, so I can't refer to it.

I think the reference to the place is on the Led Zeppelin III liner notes.

I'll give you the translation: it means "Golden Breast" but you still have to give the location in the British Isles... Shack mentions it in post #136.
