I did not even notice that number when I posted those speakers. I was actually thinking about getting those, but someone beat me to them. Maybe it was a good thing with a number like that

Well...I left out at 5:30am and just got back 30 min ago....long day:eek:

The tweeters are in fact SL 3000's....now does this mean they are 1.2TL's or has someone replaced the tweeters?? Someone said to pull a driver...what do I look for??

I think I have 2 dead tweeters, but I bought them anyway and they are in pretty good condition. They will make a great set once gone over and hooked up...Can you still get the SL3000 tweeters, or will I have to go with something else??

I am very tired and am going to bed....I will post more tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for your help and advise:D

what did you end up getting them for? They are indeed the TL's if they are the 3000's and the tweets have been replaced with the rdo 198's CONGRATS and welcome to the Big Dog club!

I don't think the tweets have been replaced. I pulled a couple and they say SL 3000. I paid the $1,100.00. They are really in pretty good shape. The guy selling them was super nice and his business suffering a bit due to the economy..

He called me on my cell about 20 minutes before I arrived and told they were going to go eat.....and he would leave the back door open....:eek:I can't believe he was that trusting having never met me. Oh well, I don't feel bad about the purchase even having to replace a couple of the tweeters... Can you still get them??

Thanks for the welcome!! I can't wait to get them going!! They sounded great at his place with a lot less power than they will have here:D

... the replacements for the SL3000's will be the rdo198's... if you have a couple bad ones, you should get 8 new ones from Polk diirectly, and send me the sl3000's so that I may dispose of them in accordance to environmental law. I won't even charge a disposal fee:D

Are the tweets actually dead or are they just playing at a lower volume than the rest. Is it the same tweeter on each channel or is it two "dead" on the same speaker?

The reason I ask is because each of the four tweeters in the array play at different volumes.

Oddly enough, it is the third tweet down on each side...I pulled all 4 on one speaker and get exactly 5.9 ohms resistance on all except the dead one, no response at all on it...

It looks "cooked" around the edges....maybe driven too high with low power???

The third tweeter down is the one most of the music comes from. Each of the others are rolled off. It definitly sounds like they are fried. You should call Polk Customer Service (if you have the funds) and ask for 8 RD0198s. Make sure you tell them you are a Club Polk member. You will get a discount and free shipping.

Yeah, but I prefer pickup for huge old speakers. Then I can see what condition they are in face-to-face. Also, $150 discount if picked up. That's sick. Then I don't think I would have been able to hold back from picking up.
