The tweeters. the 1.2's have a clear dome SL2000, the 1.2tls have a gold looking ring around the dome SL3000. I also think some had a silver looking ring, same tweeter though SL3000.

The replacement tweeters that polk sells for the SDA's the 194's and the 198's all look the same from the outside. the only way to tell these apart is by pulling the tweeter out and looking at the terminals, the 198's will have one wide terminal.

To me the best way to tell if the SDA's are tl's is to pull a couple of drivers (this is if the drivers are original) and look on the back of them. but if the tweeters are original they can be a dead give away.

Well I bought these today and have a road trip coming up on Friday...about 550 miles each way. Is there anything special I need to look for besides what you have listed?? He told me the drivers we kind of sticky to the touch...is that normal, good or bad?? I don't want to end up unhappy...that would be very bad after such a drive...

Are TL's a lot better?? I have had some tell me the originals were best?? I have heard so much about these things that I have to try a set...hopefully the right set the first time.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!!!

The tl's are better, and the drivers should be sticky to the touch, it is normal.
also you can push the drivers in (LIGHTLY) they should move in and out smoothly. I would also lay them on there back if at all possibile. you may want to pull the passive radiators for their long trip home, some say it is better on the drivers.

Congrats, you got a great buy. also keep us informed if they are the tl's.

Some do like the originals better, but i just think we all fall in love with what we have when it comes to the SDA's. I have had my ears on the 2.3's and the 2.3tl's, the tl's won hands down IMHO.

I also just upgraded my 1.2's to 1.2tl's.

John i really think these are the tl's, my 1.2's don't even say 1.2's in the SN.
I could be wrong but my gut says tl.

The SN could mean nothing when it comes to polk SDA's we have seen how they used what they had to keep the product moving. what should have been a pin/blade they had a blade/blade, we have also seen where a 1.2 or 1.2tl don't remember which but they had the SDA SRS original crossover plates.
