i think before you should be allowed to paint you should atleast know what it's called and where to buy it....

If possible, take what you want to paint to a professional, so that you get it right the first time, they can recommend the specific type/color that will work for your application. :)

went to kmart and there it was. Did a mod on the lsi 7's in cherry, everything else is black wood or gloss black. Taped everything off and scuff sanded the sides, wiped clean and applied one think coat of gloss black oil based paint in small can. I was a little concerned about the outcome but when I got up today to check them out it was amazing. Unless your about 2 feet away and look hard you can't tell I did anything. these are surround back speakers so I took the chance and it paid off. Some of you guys might think about this as an alternative to taking the sides off.

Holy crap! I've never seen a thread dug up from the grave TWICE!

    Awesome job there bigaudiofanatic!

So what, are you just trying to up your post count to sell something in the Flea Market?

BTW, for future reference, it has already been well established that you buy black paint at the store.

Thank you all for playing along, Vinnie has your parting gifts which should be commensurate with a slap on the cheek, a swift kick in the **** and please, don't ask for a reach around, he's just not that kinda guy!

Wow... the elusive thread double-resurrection!!! Well done sir. Well done.

As for "where" to get black paint, I figure -- Hot Topic. Pasty suburban goth kids have to paint too.

I was in a hobby store one time and a guy walked in and asked for camouflaged paint. the store clerk looked at him, said ok and turned around to the rack and gave him the 3 basic colors plus "Jungle Green" and said "That should do for most camo patterns." The guy looked him dead in the face with a totally straight face and said "Oh. Don't you have any already mixed?" I looked at the clerk, looked at the cashier, looked at the clerk again and asked the cashier for my change and said "You guys have fun with that!"

We used to play the "plaid paint" trick on young scouts in the Boy Scouts but I never thought some one would be so out of touch to go and ask for camo paint that was "already mixed". Like you put this weird looking paint on the brush, make a stroke and BAM! Camo paint!
