Bet you don't get 42 miles to the gallon out your jeep then haha...!

We should have got some petrol in France today - took the train under the english channel to Calais for some cheap alcohol hehe...

Yeah... hmm... save $800 for some alloys and some new tyres. That wont be happening soon - i seem to be spending more than i earn just on petrol at the moment!!

Alloys do look nice though.... and i will get some... makes a 306 look 10 times better :P

The thing that sucks about Euro gas is that since their all socialistic countries, 80% of the price is taxes!!

In the US, roughly $.50 of every gallon is taxes. In England, I believe its like $3!!

    Taxes are the devil!

    Yeah totally.

The Government dosent tax LPG as heavily - i dont know why, but you get a litre of LPG for 36p - compared to the current price of Unleaded - 89.9p a litre. A gallon being 4.5 litres, and One english pound being 1.89 of your green paper USA Bucks ;-)

But our cars do 10 times the amount of miles to the gallon... haha.

Petrol really shouldnt be taxed so high - there WILL be another protest soon.

    I hate all political parties.

Im a conservative and there is no conservative party anymore.

    I feel so alone.

I wish I could be apathetic. That would be so cool to not give a crap about who got elected where and what bill passed which house.

    Low taxes.

W is trying to get some tax cuts passed so this is ok.

    Limited government.
There are new programs being created and more and more spending being setup daily! The government is growing at an ALARMING rate.

    Illegal immigration.
NOBODY in Washington is even hinting they want to control the borders. Theyre afraid of pissing off and losing the hispanic vote.

The problem is that politicians no longer do what they believe. They do what they belive will get them more votes. They go out and take a poll before they choose a side on an issue. And theyve figured out that a lot of people vote for a living so its a lot easier to buy votes from groups with government programs and such than actually going out there and trying to sway and rally people to your point of view in the arena of idea!

Mac - you ever watch The Daily Show on comedy central? Jon Stewart had a guy on there a couple weeks ago that was talking about that exact thing. All we hear on the news is about the political polarization, when in fact, the majority of people are really conservative. It's just hard to get really mad on an issue while being in the middle. I probably didn't explain that right. It's easier to be an extremist in a protest...

Well the psycho's make better television. Whether its some idito pro life demonstrator or some environmental wacko, they are much more entertaining than a typical run of the mill person that actually makes up abou 90% of the population.

And no, I dont watch John Stewart. He's a worthless piece of human debris.

    haha

I gots a 5 speed manual gearbox - not some autobox like 99% of US cars have...

You might have a bigger engine, but i'd beat you any day in a race :D

Over here we all know that american cars are great... in a straight line. Show one a corner and they get scared :D

European cars on the other hand... i say no more :D

But lets not get competitive now guys ;)

What did I just hear? Was that the distinctive slap of a gauntlet being thrown down?!?

So us Yank's cars are only good for straight lines? Well yeah that was true back in the 60's!

I got two words fer ya: Dodge Viper!

Hell, I got two more words fer ya: Chevy Corvette!

Not only will either of these blow your doors off but theyll do it while rounding a corner as well.

True the higher end Euro cars are better performers but then again they cost $100,000 whereas the Viper is around $70K and the Vette comes in at $40K.

Ill even throw one more at ya. Ford Lightning! This bad **** to the effing bone truck will haul **** down the straight aways but also carve out some curves with the best of them...and its a pickup!

Ooh i love the F150 Lightnings - they sell them down the road next to the Hummer H2's and the Dodge Rams... It's a motorbike shop that imports american cars... I love american cars - they are awesome.

http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=102&i=7754 Y'all should read this - its about the elise. Good car - and hand built near me! at $40,000 its going to be cheaper, and outhandle any porsche or vette...
With the optional 'Sport' package, which includes a lower ride height, larger diameter wheels, retuned suspension and A048 tires, the Elise should pull close to 1G on the skid pad. Food for thought for US drivers of Corvettes, Boxsters and Z4's who may be taken aback at the capabilities of the little British motor.

Oh... a Hummer H2 will probably outperform my car - but it's about group 32 insurance - meaning i wont be able to drive one until im about 30... My car on the other hand is group 5, and is the best handling car in its class, not best handling on the road... i'm not gonna think that!

    Misunderstandings there?

Just found out something interesting - there is a Peugeot custom bodyshop in the town i go to college at - some of their work looks amazing...!!

Check what they can do to 306's just like mine:

ROFL Even I'll admit that's just not quite fair, lol.

I'll second the fact that the Chevy Corvette is awesome. And I won't say that a Porsche for $100,000 will out-perform it; I don't think it will. Take into consideration the new Z06 with the LS7. Words are not even necessary. :D

Now about the Elise. If you do some searching, I vehemently defended the new Elise here not too long ago. It is an extremely amazing car. It does the 600-ft slalom at something like 73 mph - and it costs right around $40,000. The car with the next-closest speed in the 600-ft slalom is the Ferrari Challenge Stradale (which isn't street legal), costs over $150,000, and still only does it at 72.3 mph! I'll hafta admit, the Elise is awesome.

On a side note, guess what??? I was going to start a new thread about it, but I guess not. I had the ABSOLUTE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE Sunday because.....I saw an Elise!!! :D:D:D:D

I couldn't believe it!! Dad and I were riding around Greensboro (NC), and I spotted one at a little distance. We drove up to it and followed it around a little while. It was absolutely amazing! I first saw it from the rear-end - it was MUCH wider than the pictures make it out to be. However, it is also, unfortunately, uglier from the front than the pictures make it out to be. I kind of like the look from the pics, but it's a little too edgy in real-life. It was still AWESOME, though!!!

    I still can't believe I saw a Lotus Elise...(and it was orange).....:D :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
