Ya know, you ever consider selling vehicle specific enclosure for subs over here? We get a bunch of guys looking for premade boxes and such, most of which are poorly made.

You may be able to hook some brutha's up and make a buck or two. And as your manager Id only take 5%!

    lol...alright

Just make sure they know its cost of materials + shipping (UPS will box a sub and ship it their way, I wont even attempt to eff with a box their size, or packing I think is suitable) - and I charge $10 a hour for forum members, $15.00 a hour to jackasses.

Sub boxes shouldnt take long to build (3 or 4 days max) (that is 30-45 minute days btw)

I hate to break it to you bro...

I could of built that box, shipped for under 100 bucks...

At a volume around 19" for each panel... it wouldnt even take a sheet of MDF, bracing - no problem...

Heck, I could probally do double layers of MDF... give you a 1.5" thick box...

$10 a hour, I could easily build it in 2 hours...

Lets see here... 20 bucks in wood, 20 in labor... 60-70 in shipping, max

But of course, knowing the competition, I'd have to charge 75 dollars for headaches for explaining myself

And I bet it wouldve been a better built box too.

Premade boxes aint all that grand.

Usually if they are corporate like an MTX Thunderform or JL Stealthbox they are pretty solid cause their name is riding on them but something from Q Logic!? Eew.

    Well ya know...

If people want to spend 175 bucks + S with a box.. that costed 10 bucks to make in wood... and 5-6 bucks in carpet....good for them...

But while you do that, remember how much it *ACTUALLY* cost to make it...

a 4x8x.75" sheet of MDF is 22 dollars...thats IT, that box, 4 cu ft would take a half sheet of MDF, give or take....

Not alot at all... putting it together is beyond easy...

Applying carpet is even easier... (you can get carpet for like 10-15 bucks (a huge roll mind you)....his decision though, of course...

That is true for a simple square or rectangle box but when you get into these vehicle specific enclosures with all kinds of funky angles and dips and doodles it becomes a lot more complicated.

Thats the problem Ive got now. I need a box that fits in a stupidly shaped hole under my rear seat. There are pre-made boxes out there for it but the only one I would have would be the JL Stealthbox which is $500 cause you can only get it with the sub included. Plus I want to build my own.

But if I could find a pre-made box that fit right and had the right volume for $100 or so Id probably jump on it.

    Your over-thinking this...

Finding a slope isnt that hard... best way to do that would be to take a strip of MDF... and a miter saw and start chopping away, finding your angles until you get it to where it fits pretty good, then apply those angles to your actual box...

It would be alot easier than you think.

You can construct any entire box (a frame) out of strips of MDF to get all your measurements/angles etc...alot easier than you think

Yeah, but I dont have a workshop or any real good place to work. I work in either the parking lot of my apt complex or out on my little deck.

Plus the only tools I have is a jigsaw! I dont have anything else cause Im almost never building anything with wood. Once I build a box or amp rack or whatever, I usually am not building anything else for a couple years.

    I have thought of that.

I was thinking of making a box out of cardboard to get the shape then transferring that to the wood.

By the way, Im going to use 1/2" birch plywood. I need as much interior volume as possible so which is why Im going with a thinner than usual wood and Im using birch plywood cause its a lot stonger and should have roughly the same rigidity of 3/4" MDF.

    This sound right to you?
