Our only vehicle. I wish we still had our Altima.

When I move to Germany, I'll just get a TT or Boxter. They are about the price of our Mustangs.

any way put an exhuast on it you will love it. the manifold cracked on mine and after talking with my mechanic (who is a jeep nut) had me put a 2 1/2" header to a 3"cat and performance exhaust (dynaflow muffler i beleive. it is a little quieter than the others so it is not so crazy loud inside) noticed a little in the get up and go and improved gas mileage, and it sounds mean

Your calling out my ignorance bro. All I can tell you about the Yukon is that it has the biggest V8 they made at the time. Its an XLT and with the full tow package. The wife won't let me drive it either;) its her big baby:D

I'm so vehicle ignorant that I'm still trying to figure out all the buttons on the GXP. I think that car was intended to be a techies wet dream....

Unless its a 1500HD, 2500 or bigger, its got the 5.3L V-8, if its one of those i mentioned, it has the 6L. It should say on the plastic cover on the engine.

    I have this:

    truck2.gif

    But I also have this:

    slam_ranger.jpg

    Which will soon have this:

    http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=7162

Which I knew that if I waited long enough, someone would have a crate engine to do what I wanted to do. Now, instead of $8700 worth of parts and machining to build the engine I want, I can order it through the dealer for less than $5500.

Jstas- Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a fox body mustang parts car and do a swap? Looking at maybe $2000 for a complete car (perhaps in a rear-end collision, or nasty rust, or something), then you'll have engine, tranny, rearend, and wiring.

That's probably how I'll do it if I ever get around to doing the swap in my Ranger. I think it'll be a long time coming, tho.

That engine sure is sweet, though... just seems pricey.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Nah, it's slow. Fastest car I ever had was an 83 GT that I rebuilt. First time out at the track it ran an 11.62 at something like 108 MPH. I don't remember exactly. The timeslip was laminated and taped to the dashboard. I lost that car when my "friend" screwed me over, took the car, disappeared and sold it to some jackass who screwed it all up.

nadams, I could rip apart another Mustang but, that engine is a brand new casting from the Ford factory and it's built for power. That 302 is a Sportsman block which basically came out of the complaints that the bracket racers had about the stock 302 H.O. block in the older Fox chassied Mustangs. This engine has beefier main stud bracing and extra webbing to increase structural rigidity all around plus better oiling gallies for better overall oiling and coolant flow. The 302 Sportsman blocks will handle something around 600-800 horsepower which is about twice as much as a stock 302 H.O. Plus, that engine comes with an E303 cam and the new Z heads and from what I have seen, only the TrickFlow Twisted Wedge heads and the AFR heads flow better. That engine may look like weaksauce out of the box but there is a ton of potential there. Also, because it is a 302 that means that there is a ton of good material for overboring and deck milling to increase displacement and compression ratios.

What exactly is an '83 GT? And it sounds like you've got a lot planned for that lil' 302. I hope so.......:D
