That has gotta be...one of the 'biggest' guys I've ever seen...and I would hate to be him, looks like he has problems getting around...just by watching him get on the bench...he kind of rolled in...
Great that he can bench it...but why do that to yourself...??
Amazing accomplishment...but it seems he gave up quite a bit to do it- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
LOL!!
No thats a bench shirt that makes him look that way. They are so tight that you cant pull your arms down and it takes 1-2 other people to put it on. With the shirt off he can move around like a normal person.
Actually a lot of people (me included) kind of poo-poo bench shirts as cheating. They add 150-250 pounds on your bench depending how tight a shirt you use. I saw a dude once use a shirt so tight that with 495 on the bench he couldnt get it to touch his chest. He had to PULL it down the rest of the way.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Looks like he has to wrap his wrists to keep them from exploding, too.
I can honestly say that I don't feel a need to bench... well, at allLudicrous gibs! -
Oh I love this stuff. Ive never been interested in washboard abs or nice cuts. Ive always been addicted to heavy lifting. There is no better feeling in the world when you have a good lift of make a personal record. You feel 10' tall and bulletproof. More addictive than crack!
I would give anything to be able to bench press 1005 pounds! Although without the shirt he can probably only get about 850 or so.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Unreal! That dude is a freak of nature. I am almost there. I can bench 330lbs, so I only got 675 more pounds to go!:D That is a great feeling when you get your personal best. You feel great, and not to mention stronger. I am working hard to hit the 400lb. marker, and at the rate I am going, I should make it by Christmas. That is my goal, and I plan to get it. Most people need a workout buddy, but I am gaining more on my own than I ever have in my life. I don't plan to get that sick-wit-it, (1,005) or any where near that, but I do feel that it will make me feel better about my personal goals. The only thing I need to go for it is: a water jug, gloves and some good tunes from the Polk speakers.Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Man, I peaked at 425 and that really started slowing me down for my other sports so I stopped lifting all together to work on speed drills. I know how much work it took to get to 425. I can't imagine 800+

JD, What are you benching now? What is the best way to gain a higher bench faster? I use an odd technique. I lift Monday-Friday working chest, biceps and abs m-w-f. I work shoulders, back, triceps, and abs t-th. This method made my bench jump from about 255lbs. to 330lbs in a little over a month. i plan on being where you are soon. That must be awesome to get that much on your own power. I have never been this serious about it as I am now.Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

my personal best is 365, and my rightt shoulder during the training did not like it. had incredible joint pain that caused me to stop lifting for over a year. I'd probably be lucky to get up 320 now (not much, considering i am 310 lbs myself ). would have loved to do over 400, but i'm in my 30's. I'll survive at the mid 3's thanx very much.
couldnt see the video, but the bench shirt sounds an awful lot like cheating.Living Room 2 Channel -

The fastest and easiest method for me is the "static contraction" method. Basically only use the last inch or so of the lift without locking out your joints. Typically, you will work with weight 200% or more beyond your actual max so machines or huge spotters are a must. (Enough weight that you can only hold it for 5 seconds or so. If you can go over this time, you need to add more weight.
If you do this right, you will be EXTREMELY sore for 4-5 days after the workout. It's recommended that you work only one body group at a time only once a week (Sounds wierd, I know, but unlee you want to consume 10,000 calories of protein shakes a day, it's the only way your body can keep up) Other days you do LIGHT cardio and stretching.
I would do six weeks on the program and then a full range workout to measure full range gains.
I found that I gained about 10% on what I could do for the first couple of rotations (Every 3 weeks). It's worth a try to see if it works for you.
Where I was... Where I was.. I have no idea what I could do now as I only do body weight lifting (Dips, Pull-ups, push-ups, etc) I can currently do around 27-28 full range dips in a set and I weigh around 190. Not bad, but not where I used to be.

So, I get the weight off the rack, and short press and do not lock out. My range of motion will only be one or two inches. I don't bring it down to my chest. Correct? Sounds like it will be worth a try to increase my bench. Thanks for the advice. I may have to work with less than 200%, because this bench is in my home. I need to get more plates anyway.

One of the big advantages is that this method does help protect your smaller joints (knee's, ankles, wrists, elbows). It can be MUCH harder on your hips/shoulders if you do not use correct form and let your skeletal structure take the load.
Remember though that you can't really mix this method with other lifting or it minimizes the benifit. Basically, your getting your muscles as close to tearing as possible as quickly as possible and then spend a week recovering/repairing/growing that muscle group. One added piece: If you can, always add a sled/squats workout with the other body group as this helps trigger growth as well. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Thanks. I will try it for my bench increase. I don't do much lower body. My legs are very strong and I work them probably 3 times month. My main focus is upper body. A strong man he is, no doubt. I am personally more impressed with the stuff they do at World's Strongest Man competitions, regardless of the synthetic aid they have received (and lots of it).
