Oh, the hell with it. I'll see if I can't add it to my showcase.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Ok, you do that...There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Send it to gatemplin at gmail dot com and I'll throw it up for you. You can send it as a AutoCAD file.Graham

My only suggestion would be an in-wall rack for the AV equipment. Other than that... looks good and should be fun once its completed!Brian Knauss

With a room of that length build a false screen wall a couple feet out from the front wall and hide your TV and speakers behind it.
Surround speaker placement. For people in the back row those side surrounds are going to compete with the mains and center and cause quite a sound mess. I'd move those to the back.If...

Our room layouts are pretty similar. You give and take with the second row. The second row hears the 6/7 channels better than the first row, but they miss out on the dipole effect.
I would move your dipoles back one foot, so they are directly to the sides of where a head would be in row one. -
Bknauss, I've been trying to talk the better half into a built-in AV rack but the only wall that I can do so on has the coat closet on the opposite side. And believe me, for some odd reason my wife is nuts about that closet for some reason. I think it's where she stores EVERYTHING:D
Ron, I would love to build a false wall but there is a window right behind the television and the better half doesn't want to cover the window. As for the side surrounds, are you suggesting I move them back further on the same wall or get rid of them all together.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!! -
Here is the next question I have. As for lighting, the attached image shows the recessed light (green) and of course the ceiling fans w/lights (red). Any suggestions or recommendations on placements on the recessed lights. And PolkThug, I shifted the FXi's back a foot.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Ron is right about the surround placement, They are in the sweet spot for the front row, but they would be too far forward for the back row. If you can swing it, "even" with the back row would be as far forward as you would want to go. Think about where you would want them if they were 5.1 rears as in many movies there isn't any 7.1 tracks, the sides and rears get the same info., and the surround effects will be in front of you instead of behind you.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I like your light placement, dimmers are a must! Is the front ceiling fan already there? If its a low ceiling, that fan might be a detractor.
-
PolkThug, basically the entire room is unfinished. Where I have the ceiling fans is where the existing lights are now. I had the builder leave it unfinished due to the fact that when we bought the house the wife and I didn't know what to do with the rooms. As a matter of fact, there is only 3 receptacles in the whole room. The largest part of the project will be the wall seperating the two rooms. I'm going to have to build two temp walls, one on either side of the existing wall to support the ceiling, then remove the existing wall and add the support beam in the center. Once that is done, it should be smooth sailing.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

I think I'd rather see 3 lights along the front stage rather than one right above the TV. Take the line of electrical between your two front lights that are inline with the fan and scoot them up a few feet to more or less light the stage.
Look at your rig as artwork, and if you're sole purpose was to light a room, no big deal, but this room IS your HT room, so showcase it accordingly I'd say.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

What Dennis said. You need to move the side surrounds back and align them with the back row, not the front.
Imagine sitting in your back row as you have it laid out now. You'd get sound from the front sound stage and the surrounds all in front of you. No bueno.If...

That should work great! Hope it goes smoothly.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I'll have to agree with brett, you should have at least 3 can lights across the front to even out the lighting. You won't be sorry you did as it will accent that area nicely.
I wish I could do that with our room but cannot due to the vaulted ceilings, I have been toying with installing some nice track lighting which is also another possibility for you to think about as they are directional.
If you shifted the room in the opposite direction would you be able to utilize a false wall then? Just a suggestion.
Take care,

Hotwheelman, I tossed the idea around about flopping the room around but the better half likes the fact that when watching a movie or television, we can see when someone is coming to the front door, damn sure can't hear a knock or the doorbell.:D I've also attached another image of the new light placement. Three up front to showcase the audio/video equipment, one right over the steps to the riser and one in the rear.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

How big is that room length by width?
I'd move the front 3 lights away from the wall to at least keep them in front of where you plan to set your equipment up.
Maybe do 3 equal rows of lights one line down the center from teh door wall to the other wall, one in front of your equipment, and then another along the back row of seats, then center your ceiling fans between the rows of lights so you don't encounter the lighting flutter of a blade passing through teh light beam.
I attached a mod'd pic of yours with the lines being the lights, then the fans moving to the center of those lines (probably too big a deal to move the fans to center, but I think it would improve the overall look to have it balanced rather than having them different distances from the edges.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Another option is (of course it's more money) is for you to add sconce light fixtures along the side wall (maybe 4) between your 3 rows of cans to cover any soft spots in the room......comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

i have 4 zones of lighting in my ht
across the screen at least besides it
along the back and far side and the close side
the 4 th is the ropelighting.
they are all resesed cans and worke great i used halagon bulbs so they last lnger with the vibration.
i also have my side surounds a little behind my first row but that is not all by design becues of room design. you might want to go 3/4 for the seating and get a love seat arangement in 1 or both rows. -
Okay gentleman, here is my schedule as far as the new room goes. Will be spending probally the better part of the weekend cleaning out the new room. Once that is done, looks like construction begins on the 26th of this month. I'm going to be taking pics of the entire building process so that alone will be a new project, updating my system showcase. Anyhow, here is my new question. I've been buying alot of things this past week, junction boxes, canister lights, etc. and I need to go buy my speaker wire this coming weekend. I will have have to runs of speaker roughly in the 35'+/- range and and two runs roughly in the 25'+/- range. Other than being CL3 rated, what size inwall speaker wire would you guys recommed.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!
-
12ga. - 14ga. - 16ga. -- pick one. The more important question is what kind of inwall wire to get. Once you install it, you're stuck with it, so get the highest quality you can find that fits your budget. Lots of options available.
