dynamat and those baffles have 2 entirely different purposes
id go with second skin over dynamat
    www.secondskinaudio.com
    its cheaper and better
if u go with dynamat, go dynamat extreme and get it off ebay for as cheap as you can find it

    HELLO AGAIN!

some of you there might be pissed about this - but i called the local car audio shop, and they said 89 bucks for a double sub enclosure. he asked what type of subs, i told him, and he said the sub box would be a cubic foot or a cubic foot and a half. is this a good size? he also said that they used to carry polk and this is a pretty much universal sub box for mid-level subs like the mm2124. so it will work or not? help me out here :) again :) thanks

Well the recommended enclosure is .80 cubic feet. So for two of them youd need 1.6 which is a little more than 1.5. If he has a 1.5 sealed box for 2 12's then Id say it would work just fine provided its built correctly.

yes, that 1.5 cubic foot enclosure will work, provided that it's 1.5 for BOTH subs - they want like 1.7, but 1.5 will work just fine. if it's 1.5 for EACH sub, go with the 1.0 version, cause that's closer to the .9 they want. i believe that momos tend to have relatively stiff suspensions for their respective class, so they take a slightly bigger box... i think that's right. in any case, get as close as you can to 0.88 each.

    p.s. it's 0.88 for each sub.

the baffles you were talking about from crutchfield waterproof the back of the speaker; that's ALL they do. The dynamat has nothing to do with waterproofing, it deadens vibrations in the car; this is good. two different animals.

They're not needed. Car speakers are made to deal with the elements.

true, and the inside of your door shouldn't get anything but a bit of a drip in heavy rain, if your seals are decent... now, we wouldn't want to take our speakers dancing in the rain, but a few drips won't hurt a thing.

Thats a big if though. I had my crossovers in my doors originally, and when I wired them up to my amp, I noticed the terminals getting rusty, so needless to say I moved them. I made a nice little hole in the door, and put it in the little pocket. Not trying to scare you, it is possible for water to get in, but it won't do much, my crossovers still work great.

It's possible for water to get in yes, but it won't cause any dammage.

if you're at all worried about your speakers getting wet, get the eight dollar baffles and you won't have to worry about it. it's like buying expensive speakers - to you they DO sound better, cause you bought em; same with the baffles, you'll be paranoid about em all the time, just spend it and be done with it... that's my advice...
