alright guys i get it thanks about why u recommend other things, just made me wonder and feel **** about buying polk !! haha well important question! - does mm6 only come 6.75? cuz thats all its listed in polk's website. mmc6500 comes 6.5 and thats the size of my speakers so yea. thanks i think i like the mmc6500 anyway just the styling aspect of it better. i wont be using the grilles (tear) because i dont want **** stolen. thanks again.(oh and it would look lame grilles in front and stock in back. )

    Peace

The MM6 only comes in the one size. So, unless you feel like doing some modification, go with the MMC6500 then.

If you wanna stick with polk, go with the C500.1. It will put out 350 watts, which would be right around what you wanna give that sub. Or you could go with this Hifonics amp, which does 400x1 when bridged.

Oh, i thought you were getting one, my bad. Hmm...The C500.1 would only give each sub 250 watts, so unless you wanna get two of them, look for a different amp I would say.

There's this Hifonics that would give each sub 350 when you wire them down to 2 ohms.
Or theres this MTX which would give each around 400, if you once again wire them down to 2 ohms.

the C400.4 would only give each sub 200 watts, the C500.1 only 250 each, and the C300.2 only around 220 each...You'd be giving the subs closer to their rated power with the others.

wat do u then, and others if they see this: suggest. 400 w rms /800 peak , i thought running them at their suggested rms would be too much power and they would blow like the mm12 always does. so they also said the 500.1 is under-rated and makes about 600 watts total, so thats 300 for each sub. wouldnt that be good? or i can always get other amps i guess. will the 400.4 be perfect for the mmc6500 tho? thats another question
also- how much would it be for wiring for everything i need ? amp kit, and whatever else?
    Thanks

    John

and also- DVC or regular mm2124? what do u guys recommend?

The C400.4 would work just fine for the MMC6500. Get the Hifonics i suggested for the subs. For wiring...go here for the power, ground, and speaker wire. For remote turn on, any 14 gauge wire will work. For RCA's, get Streetwires Zero Noise, either 3.0 or 6.0.

If you can get the Polk amps at a discount do it. Otherwise my favorite amps are MTX and Crossfire (I like Crossfire a little better cause theyre a little more rare). Both are excellent, powerful very well made anad available at reasonable prices.

If youre going to pay $500 for an amp then look to Xtant. They rule!

im not gonna be payin 500 for an amp :) but dude. which amp should i get then for the subs. i have decided 400.4 for speakers, and think (think!) a 500.1 for subs...which u said would make 300 cuz its underrated to each sub. 600 total. maybe if i get more cash eventually will get another 500.1? wait that would be a lot more power than necessary :) but sttilll help me out cuz i wanna buy soon . thanks

if you get 1 500.1 for 2 mm2124s, you will only get 250 watts...if you get the dvcs, itll start smoking

The amp puts out over 600 watts so each will be getting 300 each which will be just fine. Get the single voice coil subs.

sweeeet thanks guys. im ready to buy :) oh and one other thing- do u guys think those foam insulation cups sold on crutchfield help at all? because they are 7.99 for 2 cups, all i need, and i think they might be enough instead of insulating with dynamat or whatever. thanks for the help. and last thing- how much should a box be for the 2 subs, from a nearby store? thanks

the foam cups are for weather insulation, you probably don't need them. the dynamat you will want, it's a very different animal. the box should be anywhere from $50 to $250 depending on how well you know them, how good it is, how customized it is, etc.

alright i guess i wont get those cups... :( my neighbor told me that those help , instead of buyin 100 dollar insulation mats....but i guess u guys know best. but last thing- wont i be overpowering the speakers w/ a 400.4 ? 125 /250 watts
also- whats the reason they have two types of mm2124, dvc and regular? thats confusin me thx. also- when i went to look at the sizes for sealed box of mm2124 ...it didnt have dual sealed, it had dual bandpass, and ported but not sealed? whats up w/ that? sealed is what i should get for these subs right?

    Thanks again

yes, sealed is for optimum sound quality, and if you simply double the volume required for one sealed box, you'll have the volume required for two subs in a sealed box, and the shop building the box had better be able to draw one up using that volume; if they can't, go somewhere else, cause that's extraordinarily basic stuff.

the mmc6500s will be fine on the c400.4, if you bi-amp them (you can ask for instructions if you're installing it yourself, or get the shop/friend who's doing it for you to biamp them).

finally, DVC vs. SVC - this just allows more wiring options, that's all. when you start getting into different and more amps and subs, it gets rapidly more complicated, and that's when dvc can be helpful.

That link doesn't work. I'm not sure what cups your talking about, but if they're they foam ones that sit behind the speaker. Then no, you really don't need them. Get dynamat, or an alternative like second skin or fat mat.
