This looks mighty impressive!

But rather expensive, 900 dollar MSRP...

The design is rather interneting, they put the surround over the mounting gasket to the actual edge....and this gives it more cone - moves more air...interesting

    how do they compare to other woffers like the w7, h2 etc..??

    Well considering it has won plenty of competitions, I am guessing it is a fairly fine woofer.

    Similar design to your subwoofer, surround to the edge of the mounting gasket. Looks as if it can handle PLENTY of power.

    Oh, and yeah - it dosnt have JL stamped on it, so it isnt incredibly over-priced and can be had at a decent deal...

    What more do you need to know?

    don't know why u guys hating on JL W7 well I don't care I had that W7 13.5 because I found it at very good deal. The W7 is around 700-900 price. I bought it for under 600 with a very well built box thats why I bought it. I didn't want to go through hassel to get a woofer and have a box built for another 700 dollar.

    Can I get this for under 600 with a box like mine??? So shut the **** up talking ****.. common sense people..

    the common sense that everyone is talking here is that you can get a better deal on better sound, plain and simple... note cody's post about his brahmas, and to be quite honest, that pair will whoop on the w7 you've got in every way, no 2 ways about it... and like he said only $40 more. need more common sense? You look like an idiot when you're yelling 'shut the **** up and calm down', when you're the only one that's not calm. more? if you've got a honda like you say you do, you need to be in some sort of record book, cause it's a pretty freakin amazing vehicle (can't look up any of the alleged stats, cause that part of the thread was deleted - now why could that be?)...

    mac - in this case, $900 might be worth it - i've never been able to compare this sub with anything else, i just know it's crazy loud.

    Personally I think any sub over $500 is overpriced, I dont care who makes it.

    As far as value, I personally think the ID Max is the daddy. A monster sub like that with massive output and great SQ for $400! Gotta like that! ;)

    yea I will BUMP the 2 brahmas with my **** which will make a box for 5 dollars after I go to MC donald and buy 5 MC chicken sandwhich. Then go to the toilet and make a box out of my ****.
    Just quit hating on good subwoofers because you cant afford one or just don't like the price.

    look, let's try this once more. the point is not that you own a bad speaker - it does indeed perform very well, by all accounts, even cody's. however, the issue at hand is price-to-performance, and the consensus is that there are better drivers for less money out there, even considering the deal you got. and no, you would not BUMP the brahmas, that pair would wreck the w7 in spl and beat it in sq too. and what's this about you shitting in a box?

    just as a note, i could fill a car with w7s if i wanted to, i simply choose not to spend my money in this way.

    Pioneer (to me atleast) is known for setting a high MSRP, most dealers around me have prices 200-300 less than the MSRP.

    They also can be had for about 400 dollars on the net.

    I don't like JL Audio, I have heard several of their subwoofers at tweeter and for the price, they just arnt worth it.

    i can't deny that they sound very good, i just wouldn't spend that kind of money when i could get a better sub for the same or less money... and i ALWAYS go for performance over value... note the lack of subs in my car right now as i choose appropriate models... or look at my home system - rotel and b&w all the way round...

    Yes, most brands these days seem to be building themselves off of a name they made in the 80's or before.

    JVC, Sony, Pioneer, Bose (the 901), Marantz, Infinity, heck even Polk...etc etc etc

    JL is just another brand that uses advertisement to move products and just like everything else, America believes it...

    Eye of the beholder I guess. I think JL's stuff sounds as good as other high end gear costing the same amount. I agree that the W7 is too expensive as is any sub over $500! As much as Id love to have an H2 or W7 or the likes, if I were to ever compete in SPL competitions Id look no further than Image Dynamics. Damn near as good a quality but half the price.

    Id love to have one of their IDQ 10's but the damn thing only holds 250 watts. Im looking something in the 400+ range.
