That sounds like quite an adventure, Tom.
How many people did you murder, anyway? Don't answer that.

    But seriously, adventurous.

He just kept running and running and running… and running.

At least it's not as boring as some parts of Kansas. Jeez, you drive and drive and drive and drive some more and all you see is grass on both sides of a two lane highway, 5 or 6 feet up from the plains.

The local entertainment is a series of telephone poles that parallel the highway about a half a mile away the entire stretch. No humans. No buildings. No features. No hills. No nothing but grass.....oh! and the telephone poles!

And then you keep driving...and driving.....and driving.........and driving. Same damned thing for lawd knows how many hundreds of miles. It's so vast that one can literally see the curvature of the Earth.

Tom, I think its the telephoto lens effect in those photos. If you were walking/driving it, it would probably still feel as you described.

I-80 across Nebraska is just as boring as I-70 across Kansas. It follows the Platte River valley halfway across Nebraska. The photos I posted are from northwest NE, far north of I-80. It's not an easy side trip off I-80. In general the Nebr. Nat'l. Forest area in the NW, the Sand Hills just to the southeast and the north central Niobrara river areas are the most scenic. There are some great areas in the east along the Missouri River that are very scenic too. Once you reach Lincoln on I-80 it's all plains, like Kansas.

I've driven I-80 across Nebraska, I find myself staring off into those rolling hills and imagining herds of buffalo and Indians chasing them for food.

One of my most memorable experiences was after Colorado was behind me, (hitch hiked from Tacoma Washington State to Northern VA) a trucker picked me up and he asked me if I wanted to drive. It was an 18 wheeler. After grinding some gears and **** up low to high a couple of times, I finally got the hang of it. That cat actually went in back and slept, while I drove his truck for about 4 hours or so. Imagine that....a 16 year old behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler!

I couldn't believe it but a couple of hot girls even picked me up. Some ugly ones too but it kept me going along my journey. I doubt that would ever happen in today's world.

That had to have been an indescribable experience, in fact, I believe there have been multiple songs written about it.

Good for you getting out of Tacoma. Coming from a guy that got trapped there for far too long, the only thing I liked about Tacoma was, you remove the ma and you have a Taco.......

And if truth be told, I'd wager that somewhere in Texas you caight a ride with a couple of guys, called themselves Captain Beefheart and Hunter Thompson. 🤔
....and while technically it was a "ride" it really was more like "flying". 😵‍💫

Technically, Great Britain is an island, geographically speaking. The United Kingdom is a nation. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Here’s what will really boggle some peoples minds…

It’s not called Great Britain because it is (or was) great. It’s because it is “Grande Bretagne” in French, as opposed to “Bretagne”, which designates the Brittany area of France… or “Little Britain”, as it were.

So in this case, great just means big, as in the bigger of the two. 🤔

    CQFD.
