Hello everyone,
what is your thoughts on the 2024 or 2025 Mustang modes?

I recently rented a GT Convertible Premium as we were on vacation in Tennessee. I also took it to THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON which was badass to say the least.

I was just looking at those versions yesterday. I don't see a good reason to get the Dark Horse version without the handling package but then it puts the price up to around $80K without dealer markups. The GT Premium with some decent options is plenty for an entertaining daily driver and the build quality will be the same for at least $20K less.

The Dark Horse doesn't seem worth it when you can equip the GT the way you want it. I don't see enough value there either especially not 80k. It's not a GT 350 or 500 so why would anyone want to spend that kind of money on a Mustang? Might as well get a Hellcat

I am as much of a car guy as anyone, but in todays day and age, don't see how anyone can justify 80k on a new car unless you got tons of coin laying around you don't know what to do with. Buy a 3 or 6 flat somewhere with that coin, earn some money/equity. Soon as those Pony tires hit the curb on the way out of the dealer you lost 10k.

I don't care how ugly it is, if I mash the right pedal and my sack is trying to keep up with me hanging onto the tail lights, IT'S a BEAUTIFUL car !!

I dunno, the rear of the Dark Horse Mustang looks pretty good and since that's all anyone else is going to see of it, that's good enough for me!

I’m not really a Mustang guy, and I’d have to sit in one first and drive it to see if I like it (I didn’t like the BMW i4 rental that got me in so much “trouble” with some people recently, but not because it was an EV).

I personally think Ford have been getting a lot of things right recently in the styling of the Mustang, after a lost decade or two in the 80’s and 90’s.

I wouldn’t say no to the 2024 update. Not based on looks anyway. No idea if their sales have been hitting the mark or not since the fifth generation S197 in 2005.

When I had my Mustang, I wanted the interior to be tidy, neat and not falling apart but the comfort was the last thing on my mind. With roughly 425, maybe not street legal, horsepower, it could have had an interior by Barcalounger and it still would have kicked my hind end.

Hot Mustangs aren't and shouldn't be about creature comforts.

They are about brash, unabashed, pin you to your seat and make your passenger(s) see Jesus levels of performance. If it's not warping the space-time continuum when you leave a stop light drag race start line then you're doing it wrong.

Not sure that in today’s world any of the standard Mustangs will have anyone experiencing a come to Jesus moment.
At our test track, a Mustang GT with the performance exhaust system ripped to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds; the EcoBoost wasn't too far behind, hitting 60 mph in 4.5 seconds…

The all-new Mustang Dark Horse model is a track-focused step-up based on the GT that uses a 500-hp 5.0-liter V-8… Unlike the MT-82 six-speed manual found in the GT, the Dark Horse comes with a six-speed manual Tremec TR-3160 transmission from the Mach 1 and discontinued Shelby GT350.

During testing, the Dark Horse didn't gallop all that quicker to 60 mph than the GT, reaching 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, 100 mph in 9.7 seconds, and crossing a quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds at 115 mph.

The GTD might be a bit different. It’s not available as a convertible.

    LOL!

Have you ever been in a car that can rocket to 60 in a hair over 4 seconds?

The VAST majority of people have not and likely never will know that level of mechanical violence.

My stupid pickup truck that gets to 60 in 5 seconds flat scares the crap out of people when it hooks up and goes.

    The tesla model 3 average 2.8 to 5.4 seconds 0 to 60

That is a very fast car off the line.

So many have definitely experienced that level of performance

    I was also thinking:
    • Base Mustang 2.3L I-4 turbocharged. 0-60 in 4.5 secs. Starting at $34K.
    • Mustang GT 5.0L V8. 0-60 in 4.2 secs. Starting at $44K.
    • Mustang Dark Horse 5.0L V8. 0-60 in 4.1 secs. Starting at $61K.

The two lower spec models offer a lot of style and performance for LESS than the average new car in the 🇺🇸 today.

The dark horse is the best MONDERN Mustang to date IMO. I didn't know there was a convertible option.

I drove the Dragon last year in November. What a blast!

    Nice pics Dan.

The Dark Horse trim doesn't come in a convertible version, just the coupe.

    Would you care to elaborate?

On paper at least, compared to the GT, for the extra $15-20K in price you only get a 1s reduction 0-60, and the same 12.5s quarter mile with just a 1 mph improvement to 115.

Doesn’t mean that there aren’t legitimate reasons. 😉

My wife actually Got a bit of motion sickness on the first 11 mile 318 curve trip. I had to take it easy on my second pass.

My Scat Pack on my Draft Radials which actually allows me to have some traction, I can pull off 3.5-2.6 second 0-60 times. I can cover 60 ft in 1.6 seconds and blast the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds which takes me to 117 mph doing so. I also can hit 176 mph. All of which is totally un necessary for street use.

But who ever thought I was a practical person, hell most of if not all of us in here don't really have practical bones in our bodies, it's no different then have 250 Watts or more amps inside a typical sized room to listen to music.

Just so everyone understands the price differnences between all those trims, the GT and the Dark Horse are also much better equipped base trim level than the Non V8 Mustang , so it's not just HP your getting with better 0-60 times, if you also took a look at the 1/4 mile times, you will also see more of a difference.

The Dragon is a car handling lovers dream. It's really fun even for a 1/4 mile drag racer like myself. After driving the 2024 Porsche 911 and the 2024 Mustang, I'm starting to feel a need for a better handling car. It's such a wide gap between the GT and the 911 but so is the price tag.
