Tony, aren't you glad I told you about those 2.3's in Dawsonville? lol

The DCR readings can be obtained more easily from the terminal cup.
Use red and black speaker binding posts. The interconnect(IC) cable points are blade is pin#1 and the pin is pin#2

I did redo the reading from the terminal cup. They changed from my first readings and matched up to the handbook.

Gary, are you being sarcastic? I knew what I might be getting into, and I certainly stepped into a project. I'm thankful for you, but not glad yet. It's all part of the journey.

2.3tl and 2.3 are completely different critters.

Until someone actually posts the true schematic for MW's between original 2.3 and 2.3TL, then it's all speculation why the drastic re-design. I speculate that the 6511's suck as stereo drivers and Polk re-designed the stereo and SDA circuits in the 2.3TL's for the tighter 6510's.

The 2.3 has sub bass drivers and the 2.3tl does not

Not 2 *dedicated* sub-bass drivers in the 2.3tl like in the 2.3. They instead have the dimensional drivers trying to do double duty as SDA dimensionals and also sub-bass stereo drivers.

And also they swapped sides so that there is a 4 driver stereo line array on the inside and 2 dimensional (plus sub bass stereo) drivers on the outside.

2.3 has 4 driver array on outside (2 purely dimensionals and 2 purely stereo sub bass) and 2 stereo drivers are on the inside.

If this is wrong feel free to correct (without unnecessary ridicule).

Understand, but how are they SUPPOSED to be wired? A true schematic is in order here, not speculation.

George, that is my understanding too. If we had a member with the same speaker that was performing correctly, they could verify wiring for us.

You mean you didn't just throw some more expensive caps in as a hail mary fix-all lol?

When putting the drivers back in, I noticed a stray blue that had fallen out of its fast-on. Repaired it...no change. I probably knocked it loose in all my working? Dang it. I was happy for a moment.

The donut drivers (6513) or sub bass drivers are not putting out the level of sound that the stereo drivers do. Got to be something bad in whatever is sending sound to those. Like I originally stated, they are playing, but roughly 50% of the excursion and volume of the others. I did test every driver with a 9v battery and they all moved with the same exact excursion. I wonder if I can find which frequencies are sent to the donuts? If it coincides with the sudden drop my SPL meter shows, then I'm sure I'm on to something.

Per the handbook (and suggestion from George), I played noise through each the left and right speakers and when I move the balance all the way left, the stereo drivers play while only the dimensional drivers play on the right speaker. And vice versa.

On to a parts list for the crossovers...would anyone make a suggestion of a shopping list? I am after best value. Not the cheapest, but nothing more than will satisfy most. At least the performance of stock.

My guess is you have a bad cap and possibly an inductor which does happen

That is how they are supposed to be. The donut restricts the cone movement and therefore the volume level.

If you want cheaper side go back with stock caps but, since you’re in there go with film caps and upgrade your resistors too.

    Sonicaps & vishays….

Make sure your inductors are good.

Clarity caps and you'll have money left for beer. But you were still wired wrong as @Gardenstater pointed out, and Sonicaps won't help that.

Would like to hear your results please.

I have trouble posting videos too.
Someone told me to do it as a YouTube video then paste the link.
That works well but is pain in the butt for me being digitally challenged.

I got it from a polk forum member, a photographer. He had it listed on facebook IIRC. My account is gone so can't recall his name or screen name. IIRC he was a fireman at one time?
