skipshot12: per request. At least on my phone, it sounds nothing like it does in the room.

That clock is one of 4 that are similar. We've collected clocks that once hung in our grandparents houses. Kind of cool to have family history on the walls. I'm not a fan of the duck (wife's family)

And, before you all start with speaker position, etc. This is not the finished layout. Although, I could listen like this with no complaints.

SCompRacer, how did you insert the video? All I can get is the link.

My mother had a picture of that same exact mill from almost exactly that same angle.

I got it from a polk forum member, a photographer. He had it listed on facebook IIRC. My account is gone so can't recall his name or screen name. IIRC he was a fireman at one time?

It's the Glade Creek Grist Mill in Babcock State Park, West Virginia.

It's showing video is private, you have to change the setting to public.

Still says video is private. Going to Manage Videos? If you did, try reposting the link again.

I have ran the big Polks with no passive resistor installed and they will shake the house with the worst bloated bass you will ever hear.

If all of the drivers are working I think you have a phasing issue somewhere

    Totally agree with this.

While doing my upgrades I couldn’t stand being without my tunes.
I ran my SDA’s with the passives removed and it still shook the walls, just bloated.

Got the link working now, I'm sure. I was trying to set to private but with link. I have an audience on that channel that isn't audio related and I didn't want to confuse folk. Didn't seem that was working, so it is completely public now.

Clipdat: I haven't ventured into the new frontier of streamers. I have recently watched some review videos. Something like a Wiim? Easy on the budget. Takes the place of a pre-amp? Phono input. What do you think? Educate me. Could I use an AppleTV running something like AppleMusic?

Is the primary purpose to get away from compressed files?

Do you have CD's to rip to storage or just want to stream online? What gear do you have currently? You've come to the right place; we love spending OP's money. :D

Phono actually isn't necessary. I've got three systems in the house. These 2.3's are going to be a 2 channel only in what used to be our dining room. I like to explore music, so streaming is what I usually do. I do have a bunch of CD's and LP's, but they are all displayed in a game room. I could rip the CD's to storage, but don't know anything about that. So, streaming is my choice.

I must not know what I don't know, but streaming sounds fantastic. Make some recommendations, keeping in mind I'm cheap. LOL

Points off for phono actually isn't necessary in a two channel system..... :D I grew up with vinyl and never got rid of it, but I also purchased CD's/SACD's.

Basically, you rip CD's on a computer with either free or pay software. Store on a drive. Typically, flac format, a lossless form of compression. WiiM says it will connect to a NAS (network attached storage) or local files.

All depends on the quality of playback you will be content with from a streamer. Some of us like to complicate things with better DAC's, maybe high-res files, etc. Sounds like you want one stop shopping, a streamer with built in DAC, volume control run with a cell phone or tablet?

Just getting my feet wet. I would move to something nicer once I learned the ropes. Controlling from the phone or my Macbook. I currently use Spotify but have been wanting to try AppleMusic, mostly because of the Atmos music feature (different system).

Regarding phono, I'm already setup in the gameroom and won't buy a second turntable.

I recently purchased a Cambridge Audio MXN10 streamer for $500 and it's an excellent performer. You could look into something like that.

The 2.3's need room to breathe. 3'-4' from side walls and 4"-6" off the back wall.

pitdogg, my wife has given me the basement and I have the system down there dialed in to a T. The Polks are my 3rd system in the house, so I'm grateful to have them in less than ideal.

Speaking of mods: The SL2000 are not bothering me to be honest. I'm inclined to upgrade from Bluetooth to a streamer before doing the tweeters. What say you?

Do the tweeters first. The reason being is they sometimes run out of them. They also improve the sound of the speakers, and therefore will change what you might expect from a streamer

If it wasn't bass then it must have been really low treble with a lot of energy!
