I use to use used motor oil. Apply it with brush & then head down a dry dirt road & let the dust settle on the undercarriage. Works like a champ

That is what I use on my Wrangler here in Illinois. Your process is waaay more thorough than mine, but I still get excellent results and am sold on it. Four cans once a year is all I do. No disassembly. Gonna knock it out here in the next week or two.

They have a black version now, too.

I may try the black next time. The one pictured is kinda clear in color. You don't really notice it as you apply it. Seems to work well in the last 3-4 years I've been using it here in Maine. Roads are covered with salt & calcium bad

Lanolin-based -- that's the stuff! Well... similar at any rate.
    Smells narsty.
Our son-in-law bought a 5-gallon pail and religiously sprays their vehicles every winter.
Now that they have a Tesla, though... I am guessing he won't do that one this year. :|

I had a new VW Rabbit Diesel that I had Ziebart rust proof coating sprayed on it's underside and inside door panels. It never rusted. I put many miles on it before I moved on to a Nissan 280ZX. It was really not my style. Had outstanding mileage, 40+ in town, 55 on the road, but it was grossly under-powered. I had to turn off it's A/C when starting from a stop on an uphill grade. If I didn't, when I let out the clutch, it would barely move. I think it was only 48 HP. Is Ziebart still around? There are none my area.

I used Fluid Film on the underside of my 2008 Tundra every fall. I bought it In Nashville so it had a very clean underside at 97K miles. I did that for five years til I sold it. I bought a gallon and brushed on big stuff and three rattle cans of spray . Don’t do it on a windy day. Goes on brown and in a few weeks it turns black. Underside still looked great after five Minnesota winters. They use tons of salt here in the Twin Cities metro. Peace. Dbnlm0w7mjeqg.jpeg
