Would come into effect in 2023 if approved by the House of Representatives.

The vote was UNANIMOUS! 🥳
The U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent starting in 2023, ending the twice-annual changing of clocks in a move promoted by supporters advocating brighter afternoons and more economic activity.

No! You’ll feel like you’ve gained an hour forever (an hour of sunshine on your patio, deck, etc…).

I like the idea of not having to change clocks, but I prefer to have Standard Time year round.

I think you are in the minority, Bud. Especially in California, where outdoor living is so prevalent.

    Not at 9 AM, no...

That said, and in full disclosure, I'm not really crazy about dusk at 4pm (EST), either.
I like DST, except the day after the change, spring & fall.

There are systems that have daylight savings start and stop
Dates programmed in. And not everywhere does DST now.
Arizona doesn't. But native tribes do. So some things need time
    To get organized.

D@mn tablet does some strange stuff. No page breaks.
Just a carriage return at the end of a line.
It starts every line with a capital. I'm too lazy to fix it.
You should see some of the autocorrect stuff it does
if I'm not paying attention. Good thing post editing works
or you'd see some odd words popping up. I did fix capitals
in this response just to prove I can.
I do my typing with my middle finger, just in case you're wondering. :D

Out of curiosity, what tablet are you using? I use either an old full size iPad, or an iPad Mini for reading and posting on forums. While there are access issues with the old, no longer supported iPad none of the issues are with text formatting. I also type with my middle finger. :)

I just realized I, once again, forgot to set my spa clock for DST. It automatically runs for two hours twice a day, and I set one cycle to be 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. So then at 9:35 I can sit in a nice, hot spa for a quiet and relaxing period. Curse you DST.

I would love to know how/why you seem to be working with a 320x240 resolution text entry screen. Are you manually inserting page breaks at the end of every sentence? What in tarnation is going on here?

The older I get the more I can't stand it. Ditto on the darkness until about 0800 and starting at 1600 (here in Wisconsin anyway). Besides, isn't there anything a little more pressing for our U.S. Senate to do? I know many like it but I hope the House votes it down...

    I'm confused.

If the Senate wants to make DST permanent, then nothing changes with the rules as they are, right?

NOW, if the Senate wanted to eliminate DST, wouldn't the title say eliminate, end or cease DST?

I'm hearing a bit on the news; the Senate wants to end it. The bill went to the House for discussion. Don't Bills start in the House and then go to the Senate?

Maybe Nancy didn't want to discuss this at all.

I still think DST (per a story on historic trends) was just a joke between two kings about what ridiculous things they could make their peasants obey. The one King won, and it's been a thing ever since.

Another story was the Gov. wanted Farmers to have more daylight to farm by, per the clock's time.

Another story was it was made to keep kids safe at bus stops when picked up or dropped off.

I liked this clock time to daylight being longer "switch" this year. I never did before though. Weird.
But it was still getting lighter longer every week already. I was watching the sunset time close since I was working outside a lot the past month or two.
