Mikey, You certainly have the 'Touch' in Landscaping. Was this a former Vocation, or current line of work? Or maybe this is a serious hobby for you? Either way, you've got a great talent!

I tried to get a company to take care of just my backyard pool area to do the spring/fall cleanups and pruning ... In NJ they were rudely expensive so i got the tools and equipment and did it myself... I guess I would spend 60-80 hrs a year on it... During the spring I would spend 16-24 hours to cleanup summer another 24 cleaning and pruning and the fall was the biotch of the bunch cleaning out everyone else's leaves that would get imbedded in the landscape... and maybe a 1/2 to an hour per week during lawn maint. I had a backpack blower a chipper/vacuum a string trimmer a mower a chainsaw and an edger... all gas...

Thanks guys. Yes, we spend quite a bit of time in the backyard chillin’. We have a small little pond with a deck in the front so we do a little relaxing there also.

You think it would survive in Upstate SC? Many indoor plants do not but we have Elephant ears that grow to 3 feet in length with zero winter/summer prep.

So I grabbed some off of Amazon... They are on the south side of the house and have been ok for the few months they have been installed. Nothing like wired LED lights but these are working for me... I am sure the sun and rain will tear them up tho.

    Here are the lights Steve

Thanks to your suggestion Mikey, I grabbed a lot of 6 of these lights and even though I despise the fact they say "Made in China" right now (did not know this until after the purchase), they actually are pretty nice. I have installed 4 out of the 5 of them and they do shine much brighter. Even on the low settings.

Time will tell if they are truly a quality product but so far? Nice. Thanks man.

Known for their use in Hawaiian leis, plumeria (Plumeria spp.) blossoms offer brilliant colors from yellow to red. Preferring warm U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 9 through 11, plumerias are not hardy in cold weather since they have evolved to thrive in tropical conditions. In fact, they prefer a particular temperature range for the best blooming quality and quantity.

    Ideal Temperature Range
Depending on the cultivar, plumerias can grow between 20 and 40 feet tall in ideal conditions. Coupled with 20-inch-long spring leaves, these deciduous shrubs or small trees need full sunlight for optimum photosynthesis. As a result of their sun-loving habit, plumerias prefer warm temperatures ranging from 60 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. With ideal summerlike conditions, blossoms arise prolifically across the branches with five petals stretching to a maximum 4-inch diameter.

I first fell in love with them in Hawaii as we had about 40 trees in the backyard the landlord made leis out of them and sold them at the airport...they get 30 feet tall and produce tons of flowers

I have a yellow one and a purplish one that I planted next to each other with the thought that they would tangle together and produce flowers... This year they are... I am told no water or fertilizer when they are dormant (leaves off) and a fertilizer with high phos when they just start to bloom. One of the most stunning flowering "trees" to see. For something for where you can get some freezes look into a Japanese Stewartia... The don't like the really hot beyond zone 8 but I know they grow in the Carolinas because that is where I got them from when I was in NJ.

Lots of long lasting flowers in the summer... and the bark of the tree is even beautiful. The leaves are an awesome sight in the fall. This tree gives you something all year round.

I am not a big fan of solar and the test is how long before the batteries carp out and what does the sun/weather do to them... I've seen stainless steel rust here in SWFL. And if you keep it out of the sun then it gets mold.... Still better than paying for heat tho.

We have some pretty spring blooming going on. But we just had to have a massive half dead tree removed from the front of the house, so that bed needs some TLC (another time)

You know.....I mentioned before that when you have a garden? You can work all day long, remove 4 truckloads of debris/weeds etc. and at the end of the day, you look back at what you accomplished and it looks like you trimmed a bush. I love landscaping but on the other hand.....damn.

My back garden is about 150 feet long and around 25 feet deep. I was able to pull up bush roots that were literally a foot and a half deep with ease. The soil back there underneath the trees is to die for. With that said, it's also a nightmare because things grow so fast, it would become a full time job just to manage it.

I'm pooped. Time for an adult drink and some pizza.

Here is a teaser of what we worked on today. Don't hate. I have 1.3 acres and gardens/landscaping all over the place. The back garden is usually the last to get any love. It's also the biggest of all of them and I wanted to wait until most all of the blooms already came and went.

Last year, it went from Winter to blazing summer heat in one week and my idea of a good time is to not tackle something as big as this when every 2 seconds you are wiping your brow. This spring is a whole other story. What a beautiful day!

We burned most of what we removed today in our huge burn pit out back. That is a definite time saver. It's been burning all day long, as we were working.
