Stock market going down today. LOL. They can’t make up their minds. Just sell it all. Whoever is the next President will have quite a mess (economically and socially) to deal with.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Aren't we being just a little drama-queen'ish? Anyone remember HIV-AIDS? Did we clear store shelves for that ACTUAL killer virus? Italy is by far, not one of the wealthiest countries in the world. I'm saying....ask for their help and PAY them so as not to stretch their budgets. Maybe even make it profitable for them to lend a hand.
Part of dealing with these things is how fast you can nip it. You have to use every resource out there, or at least try to. Problem solving 101, thinking outside the box.HT SYSTEM-

Can the virus be cured by throwing money at it?

Maybe. Science will cure/prevent/stop it, and science takes money.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Since China advised all countries in January of the COVID-19 virus DNA, the US has tested 5000 people. The South Koreans are doing 10,000 a day..
Now in the US millions of test kits have said to been shipped yesterday and more today.Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel…….Samuel Johnson

Those guys are The Who (not the W.H.O.) and two of them are sadly deceased. 😞
I don’t think it was them that made the statement. 😉
Sorry. I promise I won't get fool....nevermind. -
China is reporting that things are stablilizing.

W.H.O has declared covid-9 a pandemic.

Italy has the 8th highest GDP in the world. Nominal GDP exceeds that of either Texas or New York. Only California is wealthier, as a state, than Italy.
That means garbage. The quality of life in general, especially Healthcare, is much greater in Texas and NY. Seeing is believing, go there some time and if you consider Italy the 8th richest country on the planet, then the rest of the planet in comparison to us, is a sh-it hole. Sure it has it's rich parts and touristy parts, but like an island in the Caribbean, the outside is nice, but the interior is crap, and the people live in the crap, not the nice parts.HT SYSTEM-

Funny how science takes money but when a drug company charges money for that little pill and make a profit that actually funds more science, certain people loose their minds.

100% correct.
Further, if we ever go to “Medicare for all” (socialized medicine), most of the medical innovations in this country will cease. THAT will be a massive tragedy.

If Italy is going to hell, then when is the Olive Garden going to lower their prices?

In my experience, Olive Garden has NOTHING to do with Italian food...“Human beings are born with different capacities. If they are free, they are not equal. And if they are equal, they are not free.”

Valid assumption, so I guess we have no room to complain about the cost of medical care and insurance either. We must shutup and pay the price for funding these innovations, or they will cease to exist for the same reason.Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel…….Samuel Johnson

Aside from being tragic, this virus outbreak is really interesting. It has only been about one month since it started making the news, and quite a bit has happened and changed in that one month. It will be very interesting what the next month will bring.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

No, by all means - complain all you want. But don’t demand a vaccine for viruses like this, then bemoan the cost of pharmaceuticals...“Human beings are born with different capacities. If they are free, they are not equal. And if they are equal, they are not free.”

I am not complaining at all. I have excellent employer provided insurance, private sector.
In fact I am going to be treated for a virus related condition, it is an 8 week treatment $1333.00 per pill per day.

That link has been posted a half dozen times already...
I don't really care.
This whole thread has been about how much money y'all are losing and every time someone tells y'all to lighten up and stop panicking, you throw the human factor in and tell those who are gettin' on you that they are glossing over and minimizing a medical crisis of global proportions. Then you go right back to talking about money and markets.
We're at 34 pages on this thread. The majority is posts about money. Those who have tried to inject reason and quell the panic have been met with mockery and incredulous indignation.
I posted it again because, one, I don't care how many times it's been posted it's obviously not enough and two, y'all need a reality check. Your money will come back. The market will recover. If something like this upsets you so much in the pocketbook, pull your money out of the stock market and do something else with it. You shouldn't be in it anyway.
Or are y'all on the edge of discussing how the death toll from the disease is a good form of population control? 'Cause y'all have been pretty callous otherwise while buying into and fanning the flames of panic with your perpetual market updates and whatever unqualified talking head you can find that it just looking for some air time by discussing the absolute worst case scenarios.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
