My concern is, I have to work tomorrow....and not at the house. I may have to wait yet another day or two. Unless I rearrange it to where I can pick it up. I have to be here in order to sign for it. DOH!

    The Canary has landed. B)

You know you have a sickness when you rearrange important things at work for your audio hobby. I waited at home all day and it finally arrived about 30 minutes ago. Unpacked her and currently they are sitting on top of the crossover units slowly warming up. They started getting sweat on them when I unpacked them and after all the time I have waited, I'm not about to do something stupid now.

I'll wait until they get up to at least 68 degrees and then I'll hook it up and try her out.

Let the fun begin again, this time with no issues! *fingers crossed*

Have you met Tom? I'm betting Tom has been awake for 72 hrs. waiting for this.

Drew, no. I saw it. Last time I did that, I had to wait an extra day. I have waited long enough.

Don't get me wrong, I have patience but I want to hear the damned thing!!! It's been since January 5th. That's long enough for me.

Even this little bit of time for her to warm up to room temperature is killing me. I need to start ordering things in the summer. Yeah, it may be a late night here at the Reitz household.

Not yet. I had some other plans while I was down there and one of our members had issues with a relative getting sick. The plans remain the same but with a delay. Soon, is all I can say. Just don't know when yet.

Okay, gentlemen (and ladies, if you are reading). It is hooked up and I have found it hard to peel myself away from the rig ever since I turned it on. This thing is QUIET.

Now, I don't mean quiet because I no longer have that 120Hz buzz. I mean it's quiet. Dead quiet. When the music starts on an excellent recording, the music comes from somewhere, everywhere, out of the blue, from nowhere. Not coming from the speakers at all. Well, obviously, it is but you can't pinpoint to the tweeter or any of the drivers.

I know, I tried it multiple times after shaking my head and losing equilibrium and locational cues from having my eyes open. I was off more than and estimated 80% of the time. Get this, my son went to bed at 8:30, so I can only play so loud. On 8, it is pretty loud for a "night listening session". On 4 (out of a possible 100, that is), I can still enjoy certain albums with FULL frequency reproductive efforts.

Now get this, I tried it at 1. Both speakers have the same exact volume and while the "feel" of the music is gone at that level, it still sounds pretty good. Interesting. On all of the pre's I have ever had in my life and on most systems I have heard, when the level gets that low, one channel either fades out or there is a balance issue. One must turn it up a notch or two to get the balance back. This one is perfect on that aspect....not that this would be something I would care about. No one listens at this level.

It is nice to have tubes back into the system. B)

I came out and asked my wife if it was loud and she stated, "Yes but only at certain points". Not bad for not going over 8 out of 100. I can already tell that I will have some fun with this one. The sound stage is that of the Dodd again but from what I have heard, improved. Wide, deep and it gives a good sense of height and OUTSTANDING placement of instruments and sounds.

I played Pink Floyd's "The Wall", the first CD and it literally sounded like I upgraded the CD and I was listening to a DCC or Mo-Fi OMR. I wasn't. It was just the plain ol' Redbook. The Mo-Fi edition of Mick Fleetwood's "Rumors CD was much louder than Pink Floyd and it sounded really, really nice. MUCH nicer than the Cary. Unfortunately, I didn't ever play Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" Mo-Fi CD with the Dodd. The Cary doesn't hold a candle to anything I have heard out of it yet. Nowhere even remotely close....but it was the same case with the Dodd. Nowhere close and I knew this the moment music came out of it. Nice little pre but nowhere near the league that I was used too.

I may not post for a while and I'm sure most of you could understand as to why. Time to go have some fun and listen to what I would consider once again, a "World Class Rig".

I am going to have a blast reviewing this Canary! The little birdie has definitely landed. Off to go enjoy some tunes...

It most definitely has, Mike. I am having a blast listening again. So far, no matter what I slap in? It sounds sublime. I have to hand it to the Dodd. It held it's own but this Canary has brought me to the next level.

Ultra clean sound and extremely musical. I know "clean" sound may not make sense to some but when you hear it, you know. If you haven't (not) heard it before, one doesn't know what is masked. I need to type this one out a bit better to where it makes more sense.

I'm so freakin' tired right now....stayed up until the wee hours of the morning just listening to album after album. Woke up and have done the same thing. I am a very happy camper right now. I can clearly hear why the previous owner moved up the line.

    Alright guys. Don't laugh.

I had to play this one twice. This song sounds freakin' incredible now. So much so, that it could be considered reference (No joke). Tony Braxton's "Your'e Makin' Me High". I can't stand the beginning and I was about to fast forward it but after she stopped huffing or doing whatever it was she was doing (about 15 or so seconds into the song)?

The sonics were absolutely spot on. If you have a chance, play this song and see if there is anything that left you wanting. There were sounds that easily came out 10 feet from the outside of each speaker (Well outside of the walls of my room). Wonderful recording!

Now, if you are asking why in the heck I am playing her with all of the music I have? I have probably put in 40-45 CD's so far and while I haven't listened to all of the tracks on any particular CD, I have found myself just randomly picking CD's out of the rack, regardless of genre or recording type (HDCD, XRCD, SACD, Redbook, Mo-Fi, DCC, etc.).

When I stumbled across this gem, I had to pause and let you all know to check it out. I bought the album originally for the song "Unbreak My Heart" but like with some albums, you find hidden gems within. "Your'e Makin' Me High" one is definitely one of them.

As for the review, as you can tell, I'm workin' on it. Patience grasshopper. I'm having a blast listening.
