Joker

A lot of controversy around this one, so I had to see what was getting people upset. The wife and I took in an early show at about 4 and the first thing we noticed was a police presence where there normally isn't any. Signs inside warning about the violence in the movie.

Short answer is...it sucked.

The good- JP performance was stellar, but he was portraying a mentally handicapped person instead of the comic book character . None the less, great acting on his part. That's about where the good ends. Almost walked out halfway through because of being bored to death.

Violence ? There is more violence in the first 15 minutes of a John Wick movie. However, here is what is getting peoples shorts all twisted....

The movie sort of glorifies the "mob mentality". 2 scenes, one of which a mob attacks a cop, and towards the end when the whole city is up for grabs from the mob while Joker is standing on a Police car with the mob adoring him.....as they beat and rob people on the street, break windows and rob businesses. You'd think this was an Antifa demonstration on crack.

That's pretty much it, and I don't want to give away too much of the movie. Be prepared to be bored, wondering what the heck everyone is talking about, until the last half hour or so of the movie where it picks up a bit.

Personally, I have to agree with those saying it's a bit irresponsible in todays day and age to put forth the "mob mentality" in any sort of positive light. This is the reason why you'll see police outside movie theatres.

Couple more things.....the musical score didn't fit the movie in my opinion, and the ending was crap.

Joker....the comic book villian, is suppose to be this mastermind of a criminal. This Joker....is a joke, he keeps getting caught.

No, go see it Steve. You'll understand why so many have their panties in a knot. The people that love this movie are in love with JP's performance, and rightfully so, but the movie as a whole....blah.

DC just can't seem to keep pace with Marvel on the comic book movies.

I wish it was, enjoyed him as Joker. Though I think to date, Heath played him best.

This is funny/interesting, because the couple reviews I have read just talked about how bad the movie was, convoluted plot in a movie that can't decide what it wants to be. I was going to avoid it due to that. I hadn't heard about the violence thing...
