Camera didnt have a wide enough angle lens for the food spread? I hope the clean up wont be to bad especially in today's heat. Nice set up you got there Tony. I hope nobody misbehaved or forgot to pay a debt and got the cement shoe treatment and is hidden under the Lili pads in the Koi pond.

Part of the reason I haven't been posting much. Much of the yard didn't get started on until May 15.....by myself.

Exactly one year ago, I cut down 5 tree's in the yard, 2 of them being roughly 100 ft. tall, and a third about 40-50 ft. Tall. The process destroyed my yard, flowers and landscape gone, grass was mostly all dirt because all the sawdust killed the grass. Then winter came, super cold, and lost 5 bushes and a real nice Japanese Maple. Had to dig those out roots and all. Then spring came and lost a couple big branches in the front yard, and that process of removal left the front with a lot of work to do. My second pond was twice as big as the picture, but was located more on the side of the patio behind the firepit. Had to move that pond which meant digging a new one, filling in the hole from the old one, retention walls to put up, flagstone to lay, tree roots to dig up, etc. Then plants and landscaping.....all with the wettest May and June here in a long time too so working in-between the raindrops was a pain also.

I was so busy during the wedding, I didn't even manage to snap any pics once it got rolling. We had Beef, chicken fingers, and the wife made 3 big pans of homemade Lasagna, even made the noodles herself. After sundown, the party started with me playing DJ, my niece who was here for her sisters wedding with 7 young beautiful girlfriends in tow from Colorado because they were here celebrating her 30th birthday. Turn on the firepit, hit the patio lights to a nice shade of blue, and crank up the volume....add booze and you have an instant night club. About 1 a.m. we called it a night.

Sounds like lots of yard work you been busy, were you able to take the trees down yourself, or did you hire someone. Your yard looks fantastic, good job. I have a huge Ash tree in the front that needs to come down its huge, the dreaded ash bore Beatles wiped out all the huge ash trees in this area. Its 50 foot and will take a crew with a crane I hate to loose it.

The best bid I got was $2,500, it is a shame it provided lots of shade. We lost all of our bushes on the west side of the house due to the brutal winter we had I tore them out and replanted. Been busy myself once the Tree is gone and another replanted we are tearing the deck down and replace it with a maintenance free boards as the sun will beat down on it with a lack of shade once the big old ash is down. I bet everyone had a good time and you were in charge of the tunes.

With these things John, you have to know your audience, so to speak. The coolers worked just fine. ;)

On a side note, if you noticed, I have a lot of woods in the back. Enough so that nobody will come lookin' for ya there. :)

The little fountain serves a purpose. It's right off the patio, it's the visiting dogs drinking fountain, the squirt gun refiller, dirty hands cleaner when the kids get ice cream all over them. Also adds sound, hi-rez too, for those naps in the 2 seater.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. Thanks all, what makes it really interesting is different things bloom at different times of the year, both in the ground and in the ponds. So there's a different look as the seasons change. Winter though, everything looks drab, not much you can do about that. I'd love to move where I can grow stuff all year, the options are endless. The ponds, I designed to be more interactive for the kids and dogs. Easy access, so they can sit in it, or sit with just their feet in it while the fish nibble on their toes. At night the frogs come out and hop around the patio. The fire pit serves a purpose too, for those marshmallows. All the raspberry/blueberry/grapes/ herbs and tomatoes are also easy access for the kids to pick their own. When the grandkids were smaller, I'd throw quarters in the pond, they'd put on their goggles and go diving for 'em. Now you gotta throw 20$ bills to catch their attention.

Russ, your room is ready....and you'd have your own bathroom so no excuses about the bushes pal. Plus the wife will feed you until you explode all over the wall. Judy and I will just sit back and watch the show. :)

I like the early summer tiger lilies. They used to grow wild all over the country roadsides in NJ where I grew up... Nice splash of orange and and they weren't fussy.
