YEP just was shopping for a few sets none come with cords to raise and lower them. Now it's all push up or pull down from the bottom spring assisted. I can't say I miss the cords those were the first to wear out on me, wonder how long the spring will last?

Last I looked windows do not extend low enough for a small child or pet to even reach them, so I call BS on the cords choking them.

Some blinds had very long cords you were to trim off. Most never did trim off excess or tie them up so kids and critters could not get into them.

    Why would that be ?

You have to teach kids what is acceptable behavior, what not to touch. Just like we do with our stereo gear.

Reminds me of the whole flame retardant mattress thing. If your dumb enough to fall asleep with a cigarette in your hand, or place a space heater on top of a mattress, you deserve to go up in flames. Just mother nature weeding out is all.

Guess I was one of those "bad" parents because though monitored closely, my two kids were certainly out of sight at times.

I didn't know the cords were gone due to kids choking, but I do like the new ones without cords. They look much nicer IMO.

No doubt Ron how much dangerous stuff did we play with as kids? LOTS and we learned the proper way. We walked around with firearms at a young age and NEVER I repeat NEVER thought about using them on others for any reason with the exception to prevent bodily harm or death. We didn't threaten or point them at anyone for any reason.

Surprised every day I drive past this school that this is still allowed, given the climate we live in today.

Dude, we all have compassion for those that get hurt, even lose a life. However we also carry distain for parents who don't at least try to child proof their homes, supervise, or just simply pay attention. Sometimes no matter what you do, crap happens. Sometimes it's avoidable also if a responsible person was in charge.

It's impossible to keep trying to ban every little thing that may hurt you in this world. We should pay more attention to parenting, behavior, instead of having our heads buried in phones/Ipads/social media.

Think I'm wrong ? Look around at a mall/restaurant/beach....parents have their heads buried in their phones while the kids run around or misbehave. Not everyone, but certainly a lot. This texting and driving stuff is a nightmare too, had to yell at some lady just this morning to put the darn thing down and pay attention.

I was shocked to hear about drywall mud buckets that all of us car washers coveted for 20 years becoming a DANGER to small children. I think I heard a couple or two lost their children when the unwatched children looked over the edge and fell into water that was left in them. SO SAD for sure!

I agree that kids are a handful and a 24 hr. a day job.

I saw where they put on ALL 5 gal buckets the past 20 years about the "child tipping into them head first". I like the warning a lot!

I don't know about the millions of straws going into the trash but I CAN see people on boats finishing their drinks and tossing the straws overboard.

I say "No straws on boats...ONLY". Saving "Ocean fish and amphibians and other sea going animals", that's where the concern lies, right?
