Let's see if one of them sells. That will tell if there are still wealthy people who just have to have what is considered the best of everything out there.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

Another member predicted this and then the price will go back to normal, maybe.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

The fact that the hardware/firmware will in the not-too-distant future become "obsolete" will hasten the turnover to the downward leg of the price curve, I reckon.

Now, on the other hand, if Oppo made, say, single-ended 2A3 amplifiers -- the sky's the limit, price-wise. ;)

The new 203 in the HT, awesome.

LOL, I can relate, I would still have my Sony 32" CRT, but since Mark paid to have people come in to take it away and got my my 40" Sony LED all I could do is wave goodbye. While I was at it I had them take the 20" Sony CRT in the bedroom as well. Which is how I ended up with 32" Sony LED in the bedroom.

Not that big of a deal, there's plenty of good BR players out there and music streaming devices. If/when my Oppo dies, I'll get an Auralic or Bluesound for my hard drive music.

Has anyone owned the Oppo 103 and upgraded to the 203 and what are the differences? Many used ones for sale, here and there. New 203’s are still available from Oppo. If I make the plunge. I want to do it with some education. I currently do not have any 4K TV’s. I use a PS4,Xbox one and Pioneer BDP 05. Thanks. D

I would future-proof yourself as much as possible here and go for the 203 or the 205 when the new batch comes around. I had the 103 and loved it, but the 205 is a night and day improvement.

The news forced my hand even though i do not have a 4K TV..yet.
I have to say i really love it.
Not sure if i can say that i hear or see any difference in audio/video between the 203 or the 103D which i have but i am still impressed by it.

I truly love the new Interface. It is very smooth and loads very fast.
Even accessing my audio files on my NAS via my local network is super fast and honestly cannot say the same for the 103D or even the Marantz UD7007 that i used to own.

It is truly money well spent as far as i am concerned.

One of the very very few times you will catch me paying MSRP for anything and have absolutely no regrets.

I wish the budget was there to step up to the 205K if/when it becomes available again.

Just an FYI. Panny is releasing 4K players starting summer.

Covers Dolby Vision and HDR 10+. Will only play CD's, but if you can live with that, might be another option. There top of the line 1000 is supposed to have an enhanced audio set-up

I just moved my 103 out of my HT for a 203.

Overall, it's a faster more capable unit. The video end is the same as my 205 in the 2ch system and I found it to upscale better than the 103 could.

The DAC is upgraded and the user interface is a lot nicer than the 103. Looks far more polished.

For the $$, I think it's worth the upgrade to the 203. But the 103 is still a fantastic machine.

What model of OPPO player did you get for 20.00? :o

I have found out over the years, HDCD's sound AMAZING!

A Madonna Cd I have has a few songs on it that lit up my HDCD indicator on my Ultech player before something popped inside of the player. The player still plays CDs beautifully though.

But when that light was on, MAGIC came out of my speakers! Why it didn't take off, I don't know.

Willie Nelson's CDs seem to be in HDCD. It's like he's sitting on a stool in my room 15ft. away. AMAZING sound!
