But yet they allowed them to be published in a magazine? Does the magazine need to take down the ad Polk asked them to publish as well?

Edited to note that I am just curious how this all works. Not trying to be smart alecky here.

i say beside the point a true polkie would not post the image ...I ask please remove from open forum and enjoy you know what other don't! thanks you fellow Polkie!!

  • Fair enough. He's a new user, and really, it's kind of hard to know what is and is not public. Please note the "Now Available at Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Crutchfield" in the first photo.

Someone on AVSForum asked the same question - hopefully the ad doesn't precede the announcement by much. Right now there's some confusion.

I agree hope he will change it in the time aloud for changing. I had pics just choose not to share openly my choice. I like POLK to share when they are ready and someone put it out to soon, happens ...mistake are all there ready to be made.

They are not available at those stores yet. Also note the poster says the ad is from Brazil.

They were announced in sound and vision, Best Buy, and crutchfield. It's bound to get leaked. No biggie in my opinion.

They look really nice, and can't wait to hear them. But that centre looks more like a surround bar. Hopefully they have a nice pair of bookies.

And then there's that..... Killing me :p

going out on a limb here but I'm guessing that the 55 in the S55 means they are 5.5" drivers?

I thought that some Polkies would like to meet the new series even before the announcement. Please note that these ads are available at October 2016 edition of Sound & Vision. So, technically this is not a leak, or something like that. Many of us are receiving our magazines with these ads printed on it.

Please note that no technical details and no MSRP is available at this time. So, I still will be looking forward for the official Polk announcement next week.

Unfortunately, I cannot remove my own post, since this option is not available for me. Pictures were posted as anonymous user on a image sharing website and I cannot delete these, as well. So, this situation is beyond my control, as of today. For all of you that I have bothered with my post, please flag my post as innapropriate, and expect forum moderation to remove it from the forum.

    Cheers.

I agree Cathy, I'm thinking when Jessie and Darryl were asking for them to be removed, they weren't (as was I) aware they were already scooped by Sound and Vision.

This reminds me of s few years back when Steve Jobs was scooped by Time Magazine A DAY before the release of his redesign of the iMac.

I'm sure that Polk figured the Oct. issue of Sound and Vision would ship late enough in September to safely buy an ad for their new speaker line.

Well, this hasn't been announced yet, but I'll let you guys in. There are a couple of different centers in the series. This particular center is what we call a "slim center". Designed to be placed in tighter spaces.... I'll give you more detail about it at CEDIA in another week.

Just curious, what did you guys think about the ad copy? Because we knew the S&V would hit a week before the announcement we didn't want to give away much in the form of specifics, but we did want to say something about what inspires us.

What do you think about bringing the power port technology more to the forefront of the design?

A word of caution: if you view the forum background pic while sitting in your lawn chair on the back patio with the sun kind of washing out the laptop screen, the Power Port on the right looks an awful lot like a horn !
I thought I'd save some folks from almost having a stroke. You're welcome. :*

Hoping the best, Polk, keep plugging and chugging.

Wait, you're not suggesting that there's something wrong with horns, now, are you?

I mean... because... well, you know...

I like it but I think showing the smallest center was not a good idea personally, but my opinion as someone who wants a big beefy center is the smaller of the demographic so I understand why you went with it.

I've always looked at centers like Paradigms centers with hopes Polk would come out with something like it. Harkening back to the CS1000p which was one of the best centers from hearing folks talk.

The powerport is really cool and I like the overall design of the speaker, especially the bottom section and the baffle. Very modern. Also like that its downfiring rather than rear firing.

I'd love to know if its just a port, or if there might be a driver hiding up in there too lol....

Not to rain on the parade here, but it would seem to me that calling these speakers a "signature series" would indicate that Polk has lost touch with the heritage of just what the name means and implies. Looks equivalent to putting the "Shelby" badge on that ugly little dodge back in the 1980's.

Thank you D2Lo for your kind words! I ended up with the thriller, but I am sure that Polk will have something else (other models) to be unveilled at CEDIA 2016.

    Cheers from Brazil!

  • Visually, I liked the "In Deep Bass We Trust" ad. I'm certainly no graphics design artist. But with the darker, more muted background layout contrasted by the slightly backlit (?) bottom of the speaker highlighting the power port, it seems to say:
"Okay, punk. Make my day. Put on Pantera's 'Respect' and crank it up. Is that all you've got, you lily-livered Bxxe fanboy ! NEXT !".

Not sure if that's what Polk's trying to say (probably not), but it is more striking than the other two pics.
Visually, I think that in the other two ads, the Signature S55 are more 'washed out'. The lighter colors in the pictures kind of "moosh" (t.m.) everything into one "blob" (t.m.) to where the speakers don't grab the forefront.

While it is a good idea to detail and share the theory behind the power port, you don't want to turn it into a celebration of a Cerwin-Vega oompah loompah sound. festival (not knocking CV, just saying). :) Smooth, deep-reaching MUSICAL bass for all avenues of music: rock, classical, shoot I'll even throw in jazz !

BTW: you all might think about changing that Polk white badge. Something a little more upscale. "Simply Stated" is a good thing, but if it starts to drop down into the kind-of-cheapo-looking region, then ......

Well Motta, there were two other members here that had the info before you, but chose to show some class and wait for Polk to make the official announcement.

I like the look of the speaker. I'm curious of the speaker color. The ad copy looks washed/greyed to me. This would be a disservice if the speakers come in a nice rosewood/reddish color like the RTiA series.
