Ha!, that is nothing. Wait till I get the carver 1.0 I used to own a pair of monitor 10b's that I bought new in 88', those things were awesome. Had a new carver 1.0 just on the verge of clipping, they never failed. Damn, those were the good old days.

I still feel it's impedance or the amp itself. Are the other speakers you tested 6 ohm or under? I know if I drop my impedance by half I cant even turn up a quarter of the way without clipping.
I figure if it was crossover issues you would hear it.
If it was the internal wiring causing a short it would happen regardless of the amount of volume.
If it is the speaker wire going to the amp grounding out that'd be easy noticed.
IMO I think it's over driving or internals in the amp.

yeah, you are probably correct. It's just strange that the other speaker does not trigger the relay. Thanks.

Who knows, maybe that one is functioning correctly and the crossover that I say is good may have a problem. All the more reason to get them rebuilt.

If i run my Yammy at 10:30 on the dial my brain is getting beat up. I cant imagine going above 12:00. Id be worried about my ears let alone my gear

It's a sheet of gloss black acrylic. You can pry it off from the rear with a putty knife. When I restored a pair of RTA 15TL's I replaced the tops with slightly textured matt black tops as the smooth gloss ones get scratched way too easily.Political Correctness'.........defined

btw i enjoyed reading you archived threads. I would love to get my ears on some 11's someday. To the op - i hope you get the issue fixed. Derwood, look at schematics posted here for both versions, then compare to your speakers. You could very well have the TL version as Polk was known to use up stuff from the previous model.Political Correctness'.........defined

Check what the model number is on your upper passive. If it's SW83 it could be the TLs.Just a dude doing dude-ly things
