Pangea cords I believe are the best ac cord out there for the money. I have spend 5 times the price for a tiny insignificant gain in performance when comparing the AC9 to the likes of a wireworld silver EDIT > ELECTRA 7. Most people wont admit that to themselfs let alone other people because of the large investment. We had one forum member here a long time ago who actually got out some kind of electromagnetic testing voltage thingmabobber and the pangea was actually the quietest and best shielded for giving a low reading, anyone remember who that was? Well it was interesting. Ac cords do not have a whole lot of difference between them like ic's and speaker cables do imo.

The ac-9 is one of the worst cables made. Sound isn't great and it's a pita to work with. We don't seem to disagree often but that is one area where we do.

I have the 9se and it is the worst cable to work with. Stiff and very difficult to get it worked in to a usable position. Moved the rack a couple of inches sideways and destroyed the outlet it was plugged in to.

I think synergy plays a huge part here; but I've been really happy with the Perf/$ of Cullen Crossover power cables. Looks like current price is $175 for 3ft.

Cullen makes a good power cable. It is slightly better than the ac-14se in my experience.
Cullen also makes Gold and Red Copper models with prices that are more in line with the 14se. I have no experience with those, but I'm pretty sure someone here does.

I would look at Shunyata's entry level Venom line. More than Pangea, but they way outperform Pangea. I started with Pangea, but once I added a Venom there was no turning back. :)

I have one Shunyata cord and will probably start the process of changing the couple of Pangea cords out pretty soon. I can't deal with the 3 ply radial tire stiffness of the Pangea.

Ahh right. I think it may have been you, marvda1, who pointed out the release of the newer Crossover and intro discount. At any rate, here is a StereoMojo review of the Crossover cable.

I use all Audioquest Power cables. What I like even better then just the performance upgrade is the fact I can get the power cords in the length I want to minimize cable mess.

I upgrade the Hafler 500 power and speaker connections.
    -Furutech IEC inlet.
-Wire World Aurora 7 power cord.
    -Cardas gold binding posts.

Initial listening tests are surprising (shocking). I did not expect a power cord to make such an improvement. It's like have a different amp. The Hafler was definitely starved.
I stayed up to 1:00 AM listening to song after song.

  • Yep, these big Haflers have an appetite. I know my Xl600 does for sure.

    Looking good!

If you ever want to roll another decent powercable in, the PS Audio AC-3's are a STEAL at their current price on Music Direct.

I've got like 4-5 of them and keep picking up more as I can. I think they are about the same gauge as the Wireworld you have. As to which is the "better" cable..... I cannot say.....

    I have the Pangea AC 14SE-MKII's on my SC-87, P5 and BDP-103.

I personally like them a lot. I noticed a more forward midrange and tighter bass response in my 2ch system.

My HCA-1500A has a Signal Magic on it that I also like a lot.

Woot! I'm glad it worked out for you bud. Power cables are the biggest revelation I had as far as cables go. It opened my mind to digital cables influencing the sound, which they do.

Have to give a big +1 to this. A great power cord will improve any component, and adding clean power is another step up. At this point I consider power, and vibration control, to be the foundation of a good stereo, and HT.
