Yep, had to buy a mower this year. Went with a John Deere Z930A - it is a beast of a mower.
Anyone else having to buy one??

I would rather mow the yard 3 times a week during the summer, than shovel snow one time in the winter. Let the grass cutting began. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

I've always wondered why people who own such machines even talk about "mowing". Get yourself a cheap push mower from W-mart that will pelt your legs and face, with winter road salt and force you to wear a mask so you won't choke and ear protection so you can still listen to your rig, and you'll be happy you only have to bother with your lawn every two weeks (and probably NOT until late May) or so-I never keep it "perfect" and you don't have to cut as often in Maine, what a blessing! Next house? Astroturf! lolCurrently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

I've retired my 16yo cub cadet that backfires like uncle buck's 77' Mercury Marquis, 3 flat tires, rusted frame and trim, no brakes, loosest steering column known to man, and sporadic shutdowns. All in all.....good mower!
JD still owes me the chute as it's on backorder.

No wheelies yet, first zero turn. But it will mow anything I have tried with ease - 29 HP 60" deck - commercial mower. Probably the last one I will ever need.
Cut my mowing time way down.Pio Elete Pro 520

No water so no lawn in Southern California. I have not watered my yards in seven years. So no lawn in that long either. -
Beautiful machine.

There used to be a Vermont-based company called DR that was well-known for its string trimmer lawnmowers (sort of a wheeled weedwhacker on steroids); my in-laws had one (which I wish I had kept, come to think of it).
The brand still exists, but somewhere in the past three or four decades it became pat of a big, soulless conglomerate:

Fred doesn't drink alcohol during the week Pabo!
Fred saves all that for Friday night and Saturday.
Fred also does not drink alcohol on Sundays either.
In any given weekend, Fred might have 4 beers although there have been a few exceptions recently where Fred has opened the flood gates.

Got that right, any self respecting dago would be grateful to own such a piece of hardware. No more digging holes, just chop them up as they lay in the field. Whats not to like ?

Most were well maintained by the grounds keepers, that's why they're still around. A friend bought two from a local course, got them home and they couldn't handle the grade at his house....DUH.
So he parked them for 10 years, one under a deck, the other out in the elements.
I was able to build one good one, with tons of spare parts.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Couldn't handle the grade at his house ? Does he live on top of the Rockies ? I've seen these machines tackle some tough grades on golf courses no problem. They do have a tendency to slide though on that morning dew.HT SYSTEM-

I went to a local Toro Pro Dealer, got a copy of the manual, and made the required adjustments. I also discovered the reels were rather unique, and can be set to self-sharpen themselves.

I LOVE those zero turn mowers---very cool. When we get on smaller property, I'm gonna sell the swisher and get a zero turn.
