As much as I understand bohdi... I can't fathom letting my system just sit there. I'd listen to it with whatever I got to atleast see if it actually works or atleast burn it in

My Be-10's sat at my parent's house for months without ever being hooked up. It happens.

Understood I'm not trying to stir the pot because it's not my business. Skip you didn't have the speakers at your place probably because of the events that happened. He has it at his house but just doesn't have the maximized components for it. There's a difference.

Either way, hopefully he gets his ears on it and let's us know how he likes em.

  • How many months now or how long has it been? Funny, this guys got patience. But... I would like to know something. The OP does not want to listen to it, hook it up, whatever.. Because being a perfectionist. What makes the OP believe that once whomever comes to set it up, it will be perfect the first time it's turned on? I seriously would like to be educated. Cause the guys at the high end places around me are just too damn busy and I trust them as far as I could throw them. As of now, it simply doesn't make any sense. Cheerios.

So, I guess I will stir the pot for everyone else.

  • Let's just say that things happen in people's private lives which mean you push aside even the hobby your most passionate about for a while. But that doesn't mean i'm not contemplating my system plans & researching future upgrades. It just means i've got more important things to focus on right now.

As you guys have gathered, I don't do things by halfs. But i've found that attention to detail pays off. FWIW, I only plan to get my Dealer to help me with a relatively small task, before getting my friend to spend the afternoon helping me patiently and properly setup my system. I agree with Halen, guys from shops are inevitably too busy and impatient, even if they're on a rate.

Bud, let me know when you make it to Melbourne...no need to break in, i'll be home to open the door & will make sure my Coffee machine is warmed up ;) .

Okay David, I just might stop by. I need a vacation. Maybe a quick round the world trip will do the job. Australia, China, Russia, France, and home. Can I do that in a week? LOL.

So you get to demo high-end gear without spending a dime or leaving your house...Yep that does suck ;)

And don't over exaggerate the reason for the cameras, you added them because you have a new beautiful baby girl, and you shiite a brick over a little rat snake in your yard :o:pB):*

But I must thank you for helping me hide my purchases from my wife till I could get them in my home :)

That's fair enough, you need a bit of tough love sometimes. I visited my friend this weekend to hear his system & was discussing the state of my system. He kindly offered to come over one day to help setup my system. He is a serious audiophile himself & is happy to spend the full afternoon helping me with setup. Great guy.

I'm thinking after my holiday next week i'm going to get my act together & get my system finally setup, atleast so my Magico's & Vitus SCD-025Mk2 can play in. I don't know why i've been so fussy when I plan to upgrade my racks next year anyway.

    Cheers,
    David.

Well at least you can get started on the break in period, that is why the system I took to LSAF was scattered and I had Halen warming up the speakers while I burned in the amps.

Martin Colloms long-awaited review of the S5 Mk2 is now out. Very happy to see my earlier review, atleast on specs, was spot on. Martin expands on that with his very detailed and informative listening impressions backed up by his solid technical background and lab tests. Enjoy!

David, just sent Mike a PM that I want the S5 v2 in Mcast-Rose. I was saving for a new car, but decided since I spend much, much more time listening to the stereo than I do driving that better speakers make more sense. Plus I save a ton of money over a car.

However, they will be hooked up as soon as they arrive, and I probably will let them play 24/7 the first week or so.

Congratulations Bud! Great choice on the S5 Mk2 speakers :). They will be my long-term reference speakers. I've never seen S5 Mk2's in MCast rose, so that will be interesting. As for setup time, well we all have our reasons...

Thanks David. I sure hope they are as good as people say. The regular S5s are outstanding. Mike is letting me keep my S5s until the new ones arrive, and then ship them back for trade-in credit. 2017 is starting off great. :)

LOL. Don't go there. At $800 a pop for the original drivers, I suspect the new, improved drivers are at least a $1000 each for a repair. I done did learn my lesson. :)
