Those are some nice houses Jeremy!! It's nice to see someone enjoy the success of their labor. I suggest buying the right one for you guys to stay and enjoy for the next decade or so and don't skimp unless you need to. Yolo.

I thought about selling and moving to a new house but that would just roll whatever equity onto a larger house that costs more so we are staying put for another 4 years.

Had some regret about not buying the bigger house a couple years ago but we have a financial goal and buying a large house was not congruent with it.

    Current house (similar):

The house we were about to buy and were in active contract until I opted to cancel out on the 10th day:

That's quite a contrast, though both nice in there own regard. I can't take any credit for our current financial situation, it all goes to my wife. She has been very successful in her career, which has allowed me to spend the last few years as a stay at home dad, while earning my degree. I am all set to graduate with highest honors this August, and will be re-entering the workforce. However, it will take me several years to get even close to what she has accomplished. So, at this point we are enjoying the success of her labor. I am so very eager to contribute again, been very busy lately trying to get something lined up after graduation, but I have been taken aback at the amount of competition at the recent grad level. Central Ohio has a relatively high amount of opportunity, so I am still confident I will secure something soon.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. Difference for me was being in the rat race and not being in the rat race.

I am very happy for you man... Those are great homes I see there that you're looking at

We have seen this home once, but are going to see it again a second time. It is at the very top of our budget, so didn't give it much consideration at first, but at this point we are not finding anything that we really like. The home is pretty amazing, I'll post some more pics if we get it in contract.

That was a beautiful house Joey, but it'd be a **** to clean!! :s

But, eh... It was too close to the neighbors anyway - good choice passing! I could never figure out why so many builders cram million to multi-million dollar homes on lots that could BARELY fit them. If I'm spending that kind of coin, I'm gonna want room to spread my arms (and blast some tunes)!

Made an offer tonight on the house above. Hope it all works out...wish us luck. :)

The one directly above in TX, or the one closer to you? :p
I hope you mentioned the shutters?!

    Good luck!

Half acre lot in Southlake tx. The yard is awesome. Neighbors were just as big or bigger.

There's not a day that my brother doesn't make fun of me for not buying it.

Yeah. They countered wanting another 15k. But the hell of it is, he wants to sell "as is" at that price, offering no home warranty. I'm fine with no home warranty, but the "as is" clause doesn't leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy. We are going to counter back again this evening, but it seems he isn't wanting to negotiate.

Can't you inspect with a home inspector first before you proceed with the deal? Isn't there like a 10 days active contract option?

That's what we did with the TX homes... we had 10 days to get an inspector in and decide if we wanted th ehouse.

Warranty's are cheap. As a Realtor I always try to get the seller to buy it. If not, I pick it up. $3-400 for piece of mind is a no brainer.

We countered with an extra 10k, "as is" with home warranty....I feel like we are paying too much though. :s

Unfortunately that's the market right now, at least in my area. Just cross your fingers that it will appraise at the higher price (unless you're putting a bunch down)...

The home was on the market last fall...and didn't sell. We offered them the price they reduced it to last August...so if they decline this time we are out.

So I think it's safe to assume the seller didn't want to negotiate any further. Was supposed to get a response by 1pm and didn't...oh well moving on.

Going to take a second look at the water intrusion house this evening. The basement isn't exactly finished, still has bare poured walls, so I think I can get a good look for any dampness. The wife and I really like the home otherwise. We are going to have to find something soon or we are going to be homeless in May :#
