Im spose to be cleaning out the storage room under the steps I have accomplished well not much of anything, tunes are cranking and I found a box of stuff that brings back a lot of memories. A perfect example look what you get for concert tickets over in Germany compared to the ones we got torn in half back in the day yeah that we got here stateside that brown one that says Frank on it, was the first time I saw Zappa at the sports arena in San Diego.
My school ID from 76 my wife just laughed at that one said I looked like someone out of the Fast Times at Ridgemont High, she then told me to turn the tunes down quit reminiscing and get back to work! How's about it anybody do Any reminiscing lately?

Cheap gas, no worries, could get a job anywhere, mid to late 60's cars, Coors beer, rock-n-roll, bell bottom pants, running on 3 hours of sleep.....don't know why that's a "fond" memory though.
Lots of fond memories from days gone by, then I discovered 2 or 3 glasses of wine seriously reduce the "give a **** " meter.HT SYSTEM-

I grew up in the seventies and, while the period is of course flush with good memories for me, it's not too hard to remember in context that the economy really, really sucked in those days. Remember "WIN" - "Whip Inflation Now"?
Remember gas lines in 1974 and 1978?
Remember gas prices climbing to - gasp! - a dollar a gallon? The ol' mechanical gas pumps were rejiggered to show 'half-gallon' prices 'cause they couldn't handle prices higher than 99.9 cents per gallon.
Remember daylight savings time in 1974 being started in... January?
I still vividly remember starting the school day, in Geometry, in the pre-dawn darkness. Harrowing.
:-PAfter the "energy crisis" of 1973 precipitated by an Arab oil embargo against the U.S., President Nixon signed the Emergency Daylight Saving Time Conservation Act, which put the United States on Daylight Saving Time for the fifteen-month period between January 1974 and April 1975.
Rose-colored days, my friends...

I remember "gasping" at the thought of 39 cent/gallon gas. Now I'm dating myself.

Well, at my age, there have been several ups and downs.
The 1950s were great: Riding my bicycle all over town with friends, playing pick-up baseball, basketball, and flag-football games; delivering newspapers at 3:30am and then, along with fellow paper boys, heading to the local German bakery for fresh doughnuts; playing Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball, getting a ham radio license at age 12, etc.
The 1960s were a very mixed bag: girlfriends, fast cars (Pontiac GTO and Grand Prix, in my case), the Beatles.
Not so fond memories of the 1960s: going to military school in grades 10-12, floundering around in my freshman year to finally settle down in my sophomore year, the Vietnam War, for which I was not drafted, but which left not-so-great memories on all of us guys in that era.
The 1970s were basically awful: Struggling to support a family of four on a newly-minted assistant professor's salary during a period of hyperinflation and astronomical interest rates; transitioning from full-time teaching to university administration, separating and divorcing.
The 1980s were a great improvement: happily remarrying, transitioning from academia to business, moving from New Jersey to Indiana to California; achieving professional success.
The 1990s were a wild ride: Working first for Steve Jobs then for Larry Ellison, spending ~50% of my time in international travel, and in 1997 retiring to spend my life with my wife an two young daughters in New Hampshire.
My memories reflect a mixed bag of the fond and the bitter, as well as, if nothing else, the old saw "life is what happens to you while you're planning something else!"Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.
Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One. -

Remember mortgage rates in the 70's? Sheesh........
I bought my first house in 1979. I think my rate was 11%, which was partly because I had very little credit history having recently gotten out of the USAF, but still, that was a killer. -
I remember the trauma of arriving in central Greece for the first time with my father after my mother's death. No electricity, no internal plumbing, fireplaces and rampant poverty in the village; a spoiled American working class boy of five?
But as the months passed, I experienced the community and dignity of the poor, how they shared, how they helped each other during the agricultural cycle. All the food was fresh! The water came from a central well a quarter mile away. The people were kind and good if mostly uneducated. Life was simple. I'd spend my days playing in the fields and climbing trees. I preferred the plumb trees because I could stay up there and pick the plumbs and eat them. I had a pet sheep that used to follow me around. The air, water, land were clean. Most of what stayed with me ethically, and politically were imprinted up there in the high mountains of Greece and I could never view life back home without a lot of questions!
I was the other there and the other here. I'm even often the other on this site! lol But that's a good thing! It teaches one humility and humanity!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

That's awesome Voltz
Reminded me of a trip right after 9/11 when catching a flight was a pain in the a$$. I was doing contract work for Cingular wireless and was in Dallas. Left Dallas 5pm and stayed in Hot Springs, left about 30min before sunrise heading to Bentonville.
Got up in that area that you have pictured there and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Being October fall and those rolling hills of the most beautiful landscape of brilliant colors of leaves was breathtaking.
Made to Fayetteville the next day, heading to Tulsa right across the border in OK was gas for .95 gal...it was the last time I saw gas under a $1

wow wow wow, I dont think I have ever seen a more beautiful nature scene.
For me the 70s were the best, parklane elementary school at the bottom of our hill and their great halloween carnival, followed by hours of trick or trating with one worry for our parents, dont get hit by a car.
later as i matured the girls and my chevy malibu.
then in 1976, one month after turning 18 joining the army, spending time in kansas and at Ft.Myer Va., arlington cemetery, tomb of the unknown and all.
Only made about 100 bucks a week, but with free room and board and an awesome 3 line mess hall in d.c. with a 24 hour breakfast, it worked pretty well, besides the girl from spain I was dating had her own place.
My triumph Bonneville hardtail chopper didnt use much gas anyway.
The 80s were the worst for me, no direction, no idea how to get ahead in life, and a receding hairline, and I wont even start with the music back then.humpty dumpty was pushed -
My first concert was "The Kinks" live at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
The tickets were $8.00 each.
Since I'm over 60 all my memories are old.
