CS350-LS Center channel speaker to pair with SDAs

I just bought a CS350 center to pair with my SDA 2bs. Folks on this forum say it is a good timbre match I have to say it is a big center I hope I can make it fit. But for a hundred bucks it is worth a try, Right now I have a CS10 and it does not sound right with them at all. Any thoughts or comments.

Best Match, other than rolling your own. Easy crossover upgrade as well. Was Polks TOTL back in the day.Home Theater/2 Channel:

The 350 or the CS400/CS400i are both great matches for center channels working with any of the SDAs. I prefer the 400/400i speakers for that duty because of the matched driver size and the ease of driver replacement compared to the 350.

I pick it up tomorrow, anything I should check like magnet shift etc. Thanks by the to Dave for the suggestion.Yamaha RXA1030, Yamaha CD-S2100, Yamaha AS-2200, Bluesound node 2i

Check for woofer rubbing. They suffer from the same magnet shift as the vintage woofers.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I picked up the SC350 yesterday amid a freak Chicago snow storm. Hooked it up and we all sat down for a Hunger Games marathon. Now I only have the CS10 center channel to compare but with that said the improvement over the other was immediate. The vocals which were hard to understand with the CS10 were now clear and distinct, bass had improved tremendously. All three main speakers now work together as a unit. Now I understand the importance of Timbre matching your HT rig.

FYI for what it's worth, I bought the LSiM 704 last christmas, using it with CRS+ L-R fronts. It's a great match."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer

No not to bad a little heavier than my old CS10 but not bad, I was really happy that it fit the opening. Best of all the sound is great, fantastic. I can't wait to do the crossover mod but that is a little down the road and I will post my results when the time comes. I use the CS 400 with my 2.3tl's along with FX/500's in the rear. I don't have muct to compare to, but they sound great together to me. The fx500's are BIG rears. I am considering swapping to an in-wall rear pair. Any suggestions on a good match for rear in-walls to my 2.3tl's?

I am actually thinking about just going back to a pure stereo 2 speaker system, and maybe a powered sub. Still undecided, just considering it as an option.

Your 2.3s don't require a Sub for Music.Home Theater/2 Channel:

good point. I have the sub, so I will try the combo out if I go this route. I agree though, the 2.3's have plenty of bass on their own.

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but @westmassguy what crossover are you referring to for this? I have just bought a pair of 2b's an will be needing a center speaker. planning to do the 2b upgrades as soon as I find a different amp, but was curious o the crossover upgrades you were mentioning for this particular speaker.
thanks. -

Resurrecting an old thread!
I'm refurbing an old CS-350, that I "cleverly" built into my home theatre set up 20 years ago. Due to its unique size, none of the modern center speakers will fit the opening of the old CS350 (FWIW - the Klipsch Reference RP-404C seems to be the closest size match....but is over $600, and not sure if it would offer much improvement?)
Can anyone share the specifics of the "crossover upgrade"?
Or will I be able to find old part numbers on the CAP and Resistor, and follow westmassguy tip - Changing the NP Electrolytic Cap to a Sonicap, and changing the sandcast to a Mills MRA Resistor.
assume sandcast is an old resistor style?

Yes generally looks like a white brick2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures
Desktop rig: LSi7, Polk 110sub, Dayens Ampino amp, W4S DAC/pre, Sonos, JRiver
Gear on standby: Melody 101 tube pre, Unison Research Simply Italy Integrated
Gone to new homes: (Matt Polk's)Threshold Stasis SA12e monoblocks, Pass XA30.5 amp, Usher MD2 speakers, Dynaudio C4 platinum speakers, Modwright LS100 (voltz), Simaudio 780D DAC
