    I flagged something once and nothing happened. Then I sent Ken a PM about it and he listened to my concerns about the post. For that instance, it seemed like he didn't receive the flag. So if you feel strongly about a bad post then PM him. He even said to do the same in a post recently. Let the mods deal with offending posts; don't do it yourself.

    O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,

    The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,

    The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

    While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;

    But O heart! heart! heart!

    O the bleeding drops of red,

    Where on the deck my Captain lies,

    Fallen cold and dead.

    O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;

    Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,

    For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,

    For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

    Here Captain! dear father!

    This arm beneath your head!

    It is some dream that on the deck,

    You’ve fallen cold and dead.

    My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,

    My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,

    The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,

    From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;

    Exult O shores, and ring O bells!

    But I with mournful tread,

    Walk the deck my Captain lies,

    Fallen cold and dead.

    Folks, keep in mind Polk is a fairly large corporation, first and foremost. Corporations will reduce risk wherever possible. If you keep that in mind, the bannings make "sense". What if.... and I know this is a stretch... some knucklehead goes on the forum and decides to pour acid on his gear. Or a female member gets super offended by the never ending pics of half naked women and goes up the management chain or blasts Polk on Facebook. On the other side, X is an idiot so ignore him. Just some thoughts....

    Exactly, and the bottom line is that this forum does not do THAT much in the grand scheme of things to increase Polk's overall sales. I am sure that have a marketing stats person that knows the numbers, and of course one can only estimate, but I would put the estimate in the single digits. So combine reducing risk with the fact that this forum does not generate that much revenue for Polk, and this situation is not that difficult to understand.

    Clever relation Tony, but I think it is demeaning to compare Jesse's 30 day suspension from an audio forum, to the tragic death of Abraham Lincoln.

    That wasn't the point, but never mind.

    Lets keep in mind Jess didn't get banned, just some time off. Secondly, nobody is refusing Polk's ability to take down what they wish or view as offensive. The main concern, or complaint if you will, is the ability to recognize trolls and the lack of action dealing with them. This has nothing to do with half naked women pics, or any other threads that cross the line which Polk has every reason to dump.

    Speaking only for myself, it comes down to a matter of defining a problem and a course of action to deal with it. Something we as a society have a hard time doing. Instead we have subscribed to a plain vanilla PC world that tries to appease everyone and the mass amounts of supposedly offensive things that gets their panties all twisted. In doing so, you eliminate a certain camaraderie among members. I'm not saying Polk should let everything fly on the forum, absolutely not, but simply use some common sense when the forum gets tossed upside down and simply ask "what changed" ? If they asked themselves that simple question, the answer becomes apparent.

    Hi Tony,

    Obviously, the squackers on here definition of a troll is totally different from what Polk mgmt considers a troll. The fact that the individual is simply expressing a different view point from the clicque on here does not necessarily make them a troll.

    So if you have followed the rules and reported the supposed offending posts and no action has been taken then by Polk's definition, the said individual is not a troll. And Polk's definition is the only one that matters.

    Don't like it, put them on ignore and move on. This has nothing to do with PC. It's clear that some of you just want to be able to do whatever you want, and Polk is not going to allow it.

    The sooner some of you accept that you don't run or own this board the better off you will be.

    If that is so unreasonable, find another board or create your own.

    I know it wasn't...and I am only kidding. My point was that anything can be taken out of context and found to be offensive. I understand that Polk must moderate, but we all need to relax and not be so serious. This is just the internet after all, anyone can give advice with no qualifications required, despite our varying mental states/capacities, personalities and experiences.

    Cathy,

    Again, nobody is asking that Polk overlook the violations of anyone. We, the vast majority, are simply asking that the rules be applied equally for ALL offenders.
    Very few people will disagree that certain people have violated rules 2 and 5 but have not been subjected to the same punishment as others.

    http://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/147317/club-polk-rules-of-engagement-a-refresher#latest
    2) Trolling - members who make a conscious effort to inflame or irritate others will be subject to warnings and/or bans.
    5) No baiting or fighting. Personal attacks, trouble making, inappropriate language, or any threatening or offensive behavior will not be tolerated.

    And even rule 7 could be considered to have been violated. Don't agree that cables don't make a difference? Well then don't slam brands just because it doesn't meet your opinion.

    I have had my hand slapped several times because I let my emotions run away with me sometimes. It isn't that I feel any hate for anyone but that I feel passionate about this hobby.
    But it gets annoying when the same actions that I and others have been punished for are allowed to happen over and over.

    The door swings both ways. We shouldn't engage the trolls and the trolls shouldn't be allowed to ignore rules #2 and 5 like they have been repeatedly allowed to do.

    I will say this and for the sake of being transparent I don't give a hoot how people view me now or after.....people who know me matter. It's all about maturity. The people who egg on the "trolls" are just as culpable and in my opinion more immature. Posting pictures, quoting songs, writing clever posts to belittle are all forms of just trying to one up the very thing you SAY you are trying to prevent. Your egos just can't allow you to ignore and you have to flex your keyboard muscles. If Jesse decides to come back after his hiatus, great. If not, fine. His choice. If you allow yourself to become so disillusioned by this situation and leave under your own power, then go. NOBODY is begging any of us to stay. The fact is polk does not need this forum whatsoever, as I am quite sure it does VERY LITTLE to boost sales. They have contined to sponsor this forum through all the BS, but it seems their patience is running a bit thin. When they decide to ban everyone who co tinues to engage in childish behavior, then all of them can start their own forum posting potty hunor, half naked pictures and sarcastic jokes. Heck, I would even join it. I just choose not to do so here. I am sure in the past i have been part of the crowd, but understand when I do that there could be consequences. This is the proverbial beating of the dead horse and that horse has been dead for a long, long time.

    Agree with that first paragraph Cathy, but lets look at the rest.

    Polks definition is the only one that matters.....I agree, but if threads are left up for extended periods of time then they must not have a problem with it, right ? If they did they would shut them down pronto. All it takes though is for one or 2 people to be "offended" and what once was OK by hundreds of members...and Polk, is suddenly deemed unworthy ? If that's the case then, I guess one bad apple does indeed spoil the whole bunch.

    We all know we don't run the forum, nor do we expect to be able to do what we want, that's an insult to our intelligence, all we ask is some even hand enforcement and problem solving capabilities. Is that so much to ask for ? That's really the crux of the matter imho anyway.

    ....and FWIW, I still love ya though we may disagree on some things. The wife even went as far as to take out additional life insurance on me after viewing some of yours and mine banter. :)

    Bottom line is this. When you own/run an internet forum. And, let's say, 95% of its members complain about a certain troll and his troll buddies. And the owner(s) of that forum do nothing at all, turn a blind eye etc. In this case it seems like it is encouraged. THAT shows the other members that they don't really give a **** about the forum anymore. Or its long time fans, old customers and potential new future customers.

    Think of it this way. If I am a new or potentially new Polk speaker buyer. I get online one night and Google the new LSiM speakers I am thinking about buying. I arrive at this forum and see what is going on. I'm gonna wonder what the company is really like if they tend to host and allow BS like what is happening here.
